President Obama’s State of The Union Speech

The nation was glued to their televisions and computers on January 25, 2012 6p.m. to hear what President Obama had to say about our State of the Union. President Obama talked about us working together as Americans not as republicans or democrats. He is right. The republicans called his speech a class warfare. No that is not true. President Obama wants everyone to get their fair share and play by the same rules. I agree because it is not fair for the rich to be taxed at 14 percent when the middle class are getting taxed at the 20 percent rate or higher that does not make any sense. When President said that people making 1,000,000 dollars a year or higher should be taxed at least 30 percent, the republicans sat there clinching their greedy teeth. What really moved me was when President Obama talked about how we can put people back to work if businesses would come back to America. It does not make any sense that American businesses get all the tax breaks just because they do business in other countries. President Obama wants to give American businesses the credit for coming back to America and for operating in areas where factories have been shut down for years. President Obama talked about the housing crisis that happened in 2008. I think that it was one the biggest conspiracy of greed that I have ever seen. President Obama wants an economy that is built to last with woman getting equal pay for equal work, supporting entrepreneur’s and expand tax relief for start up companies. President Obama kept saying to congress you all agree on these issues put it in a bill and I will sign it. I don’t know what in the world are they waiting for. Is it that the republicans won’t pass anything President Obama suggested, so they can blame him for being a bad president that is the way I see it. President Obama wants to combine six government agencies into one so it can be quicker in helping the American people. This is a good idea. I don’t think that will happen in my lifetime if the republicans have anything to say about it. President Obama put congress on notice, he told them that they should stop fighting among themselves and come together on common sense ideas. President Obama quoted Abraham Lincoln, “The government should do for people what they cannot do by themselves and no more.” Presidents Obama’s State of the Union speech was in my opinion one of the most powerful State of the Union speeches I have ever heard. I know a lot of people would agree. I just hope congress takes it to heart and stop all their foolishness and come together and get some of these bills passed so we as a nation can get back to being the most powerful and productive nation on earth. As for the republicans rebuttal on the President’s State of the Union speech it was the same old mess Obama has not done anything to improve the economy and he is moving to slow. Blah Blah Blah!

San Francisco 49ers Heart Breaking Defeat

The loss to New York Giants was heart breaking and it was not one person’s fault it was a team effort. Just because Kyle Williams touched the ball on a punt giving the Giants the ball down by the Giants 20 yard line causing a Giants touch down. The dropped ball in the end zone from a pass from Alex Smith for the San Francisco 49ers win in overtime. How many chances were San Francisco 49ers supposed to get, they could not capitalize on 3^rd down. Just think if they did. The score probably would have been higher with San Francisco coming out the victors. All you stupid idiots who are twitting death threats to Kyle Smith it Stop it!!. All you San Francisco 49ers fans hold your heads up, your team had a great season.

Are Cruise Ships Safe?

I say yes they are as safe, as flying riding a train or riding in a car. On January 13, 2012 which happened to be Friday the 13^th the Costa Concordia Cruise Ship ran aground it hit some rocks near Giglio a small off the coast of Tuscany Italy; this torn a 50m hole in its hull of the ship with 4,000 plus people on board. Captain Schettino did not report the accident right away. The Costa Concordia hit the rocks at 9:45 p.m. he did not contact the coast guard until about 10:43 p.m., what in the world was he thinking. If he would have reported his mistake right away the six bodies and the sixteen people who are still missing did not have to die. When the Coast Guard arrived at the Costa Concordia Cruise ship the Captain Francesco Schettino of was not on the ship. His reason was that he fell and tripped into a life boat. Yea! Right just like the guy on the Titanic who grabbed the baby. One passenger on the ship Emily Lau said “when we got to the deck, people were just utterly hysterical mostly not because something was scary, but because there was no control.” “It was just utter madness. People were falling because the ship was actually sinking quite fast. And the next thing we heard was ‘abandon ship’,” Lau said. I have been on several cruises and every time there is a muster the first hour on the ship, so everyone on board knows what to do in case of an emergency. A lot of people I come across say they have not been on a cruise, I ask why? And they say because “I’m scared! what if the ship sinks I can’t drink all that water.” If you go through life being scared you miss out on new experiences and having a wonderful full life. Cruising is so fun my favorite cruise line is Royal Caribbean, their customer service is great. Most cruise ships are safe it is not the ship, it is the Captain and the crew that makes the cruise ship unsafe.

THE IMPORTANCE OF MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY

What really gets me is how in the year 2012 a lot of people still think Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a holiday just for the black people because Martin Luther King was a black man that is not the case. Martin Luther King stood for equality for all people. Martin Luther King wanted a person to be judged by the content of their character not the color of their skin. If there were no Martin Luther King then there would not be integrated sports teams, schools, neighborhoods and work places. There would not be minority businesses, which are still surviving in this economy. Martin Luther King’s message made it where we have a minority President. I don’t understand when some people when they say enjoy your day off, it should be their day off too it is a federal holiday. Martin Luther King Day is a day of celebration a day for volunteering in your community. Here are some events that are going around the bay where you can go. 5 year old Boy Hog Tied Charged with Battery on Police Officer in Stockton

Michael Davis a rambunctious 5 years old with ADHD was arrested at Rio Calaveras Elementary in Stockton California in November of 2011. Michael has a problem with not thinking before he acts or speaks because of his ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder). On occasion Michael has gotten into fights with other students and even threw a chair. Rio Calaveras Elementary School in Stockton told Michael’s mother they had a plan to change Michael’s behavior. The school decided to try the scared straight tacked on Michael; they brought in a police officer to talk to Michael. Lt. Frank Gordo sat down to talk to Michael when he put his hand on Michael’s hand, Michael batted it away pushed papers off the table and kicked Lt. Frank Gordo in the right knee. When Michael would not calm down Lt. Frank Gordo to arrested Michael and charged him with battery on a police officer. He proceeded to zip tie Michael’s hands and feet put him in the back of the squad car and took him to Kaiser Psychiatric Hospital in Stockton. First of all Lt. Frank Gordo should be ashamed of himself, he had no right to zip tie a 5 year old like he was a grown man who could do physical harm to him. Rio Calaveras Elementary School in Stockton should also be ashamed, because they delayed in the evaluation of Michael which denied him a fair education. Michael’s mother had been asking for help. If I had hog tied my son when he was five because he would not calm down and took him to a Psychiatric Hospital I would have been arrested and charged with child abuse. Why is Lt. Frank Gordo not arrested? He should be. He does not know what he has done to this little boys mental state. Michael Davis will probably grow not trusting the police.

San Jose Man Wielding Machete Caused Five Hour Standoff

A 44 year old man was ask to turn down his music at 2:47am on December 29, 2011 by the security officer at the Capitol Village apartments in San Jose he refused. This caused a five hour standoff with police, and caused the people of the apartment complex to be evacuated. When this man finally came out of his apartment he was wielding a machete and carrying a bottle to alcohol. This drunken idiot threatened the officers, but the officers held their cool and let the police dog take down the man this was at 7:45am. I say great job San Jose Police Department for not shooting and letting the dog do his job. Police dogs are awesome! This man was lucky he didn't get shot.

Man and Women in Modesto Arrested for Using Salvation Army Bell and Kettle

On Sunday in Modesto California, a 25 year old man and women were arrested outside of Wal-Mart store for using a Salvation Army Bell and Kettle. They were collecting money for themselves; little did they know Salvation Army does not collect money on Sunday. It’s a shame that during the holidays it brings out the worst in some people. People scamming the public out of their hard earn money. The public trying to give what little they have to what they think is a good cause and to find out that it is a scam. That’s why a lot of people don’t give more because of people like Domonick Carrie and Khalillah Williams. I just want to say, all of you who like to give remember Salvation Army does not collect money on Sunday. 70 Occupy Protester Arrested in Raid at Justin Herman Plaza in San Francisco

The Occupy Wall Street protester in San Francisco who took over Justin Herman Plaza in mid-October was raided and dismantled by police on December 7, 2011 in the early morning. The Occupy leadership and city official’s negotiations had broken down. City officials declared it to be public safety and health hazard; they had enough after what happened on December 3, 2011 the incident with the two protesters and the police officer who was hit in the face guard with a metal chair resulting in minor injuries. It seems to me you always have some stupid person who decides to throw a chair or something else, causing a non-violent protest to become violent this makes the majority of the protesters seems bad. When in actuality the protest is for a good cause. Now the Occupy San Francisco movement has to find another place to protest, they were offered a school at 16^th and Mission, but they could not come together on whether to relocate. I think they should have taking the offer, at least they would have had a safe place to plan their tragedy to keep on protesting what they believed in bank bailouts and economic injustice. One Year Old Boy Shot In the Head in Oakland

On Tuesday November 29, 2011 there was another violent shooting in Oakland California, where a rap music video was being filmed. Twenty people gathered outside of State Market liquor store in West Oakland, including a one year old baby boy who was held by his father Hiram Lawrence. When gunmen started shooting, Hiram Lawrence was shot in the hand and his one year old son was shot in the head. Seven other people were shot a man and women were critically wounded, other five people did not sustain serious injury. Out of the twenty people who were there nobody has come forward to help the police find out who the shooters were. My sympathy goes out to the family of the one year old, but what I don’t get is why did Hiram Lawrence would have is one year old son at a rap music video shoot. People in the video were posing with liquor bottles in front of the store this is clearly not an atmosphere for any child. That little baby boy should not have been there. Our children are our future, children are very perceptive they watch and see everything. If they grow up seeing the violence they are more than likely to think this way a life is the normal and continue the cycle. I hope the Oakland Police Department find the persons who shot into the coward of people these individuals need to be taking off the streets of Oakland.

Occupy Wall Street Movement Protester Being Pepper Sprayed

Non-violet Occupy Wall Street protesters being pepper sprayed at UC Davis in Sacramento California. I was watching this on the news I could not believe the one officer, he was walking back a forth like he was spraying a bunch of weeds. All they were doing was sitting on the side walk with their arms locked not confrontational, the amount of pepper spray he was using was excessive. If they were in the officer face screaming, hollering and advancing toward the officer then I could see using pepper spray. This is happening in other cities all over the United States in Seattle Washington an 84 year old woman and a pregnant woman were pepper sprayed. In New York City Occupy Wall Street protesters were pepper sprayed by police. Although in Oakland California the Occupy encampment was disbanded peacefully two times by police, the police vowed it won’t rise again. What if it does? Are the people of Oakland going to be pepper sprayed, like in Sacramento, New York City and Seattle, Washington? The Occupied movement is going strong and I don’t see it going away any time soon. I think if the police keep pepper spraying non-violet protesters the people are going to start fighting back, things will get ugly and one wants that.

Domestic Violence Shelters in the Bay Area are Struggling

All over the Bay Area domestic violence shelters are struggling to meet the needs of women who have no where to turn. Budget cuts in cities like San Jose, San Mateo, Fremont, Oakland and San Francisco are causing these shelters to turn people away and these shelters are staying full for a year or more. This woman Melissa Strawn and her two boys, tried to seek refugee in a San Jose shelter, but they were full the only bed in the 97 shelters through out the bay area was in Concord. It is a shame the governments in cities not just in San Jose, San Francisco, Fremont and Oakland, all over the United States cut services that people need so desperately. That is why we need more affordable housing and jobs. I think if the government would give big business and small more of an incentive to hire and to keep their business in the United States just maybe we would not be in the situation were in now. What do you think will fix this situation?

Major Banks Will Not Charge Debit Card Fees

I say yes! It is working. The major banks Wells Fargo, Chase and Bank of America with their greed were going to charge the consumers a fee for using their debit cards when they make a purchase. I am a Bank of America customer and I was getting ready to close my account and go some where else; because to pay five dollars every time I used my debit card is unacceptable. I use my debit at least four times a week that is twenty dollars. I don’t have eighty dollars to be giving Bank of America once a month. The Wall Street Occupy movement is protesting this kind of greed from the big banks, but the consumer threatened to withhold their business from the big banks and it worked. Wells Fargo, Chase and Bank of America are backing off from charging the three and five dollars debit card fees. The consumer said were not having it, you greedy S.O.B’s. The Occupy all over America is taking hold in cities like Oakland, San Francisco, Berkeley and San Jose and I see it getting bigger and bigger.

It is about time! People all over America are saying ENOUGH! Is ENOUGH! They are protesting some of the wealthiest executives in America jeering, “Tax the rich!” and “Where’s my bailout?” Protesters have been arrested in Washington D.C. for protesting inside a U.S. Senate office Building. In Northern California the Bay Area is starting its movement. The San Jose Occupy Wall Street protesters are remaining polite while they receive citations. Mayor Chuck Reed on Tuesday said he hopes the protesters have an impact on the Obama administration’s willingness “to do something about the lying, stealing and cheating going on in Wall Street, “ he said. “I didn’t hear anybody out there complaining about Apple making big profits, “he said. “So it’s not just corporate greed in general. It’s a little more targeted than that. “San Jose Mayor Reed said San Jose filed a law suit against some Wall Street investment banks for “ripping us off on some bond issuances. “ A city official in Oakland has joined the Occupy Wall Street cause to show solidarity to the cause. New York protesters are demonstrating outside buildings of Rupert Murdoch media mogul, Jamie Dimon JP Chase Chairman and CEO and David Koch oil tycoon where they have homes. The Occupy Wall Street protesters in San Francisco protested in front of the Federal Reserve Bank. In San Ramon protesters, protested the government’s subsidization of Big Oil companies at the Chevron’s corporate headquarters. Palo Alto and Walnut Creek are protesting against banks, because of the bail out they received. Some Republicans are accusing the demonstrators of wagging a “class war.” If they would open their eyes they would see that the economy is not going to improve if they keep trying to keep it the way it has been for years people want to work. I am a person who feels that everyone should pay their fair share of taxes. It doesn’t matter if your rich or poor you should pay what you owe. It is not fair for the rich to keep getting rich just because the government has had this 2 percent “millionaires” tax for years. It is well over due to end this is a outrageous tax and stop given the wealthy and the corporation any more tax breaks and bail outs. It is time for a New Deal, people should be taxed according to what they make and not given breaks because their rich…

Bay Area Loses Two Similiar Icons!

The world, our nation, and the Oakland-San Francisco Bay Area lost two of its legendary, iconic leaders this past week....as Apple Computer Founder/CEO 'Steve Jobs' passed away Wednesday at his home in Palo Alto, California at the age of 56, while Oakland Raiders Owner Al Davis died Saturday, less than 40-miles away at his home in Piedmont, California at the age of 82.

Though separated in age by 26-years, both were known as short-tempered, tyrannical mavericks who out-worked their employees, and out-gutt fought anyone standing in the way of their progress, thus paving the paths by which these two un-common genius's pioneered and revolutionized their respective industries on a world-wide scale!

Davis helped mold and grow the National Football League into a titanic industry, while steam rolling the Raiders into one of the winning est sports franchises of its age, while Jobs spear-headed world technology by launching the personal computer, and enhancing our way of listening to music and viewing film animation.

Both Davis and Jobs were born years ahead of their time, suffering no fools in their relentless pursuit of success, each possessing an un-matched eye for talented personnel, and strict intolerance for anything less!

This left un-admirable impressions on their many detractors, however, both men had their soft sides....each revealing charity, support, and un-matched generosity, which neither Davis nor Jobs called attention to--and both strongly rewarded loyalty, not just from employees and friends, but from all people who surrounded and supported them!

While it's well documented that Davis and Jobs made numerous enemies of those they trampled on their way up, I had a chance to meet and work with both of these leaders at different times over the past 25-years, and to me....their personalities were anything but arrogant, viscous, destructive or tyrannical!

As a limo driver from 1995 thru 2001 I chauffeured Jobs and his family (wife Loreen and three children, Reed, Erin, and Eve), along with many of his corporate executives, managers, and top-name celebrities who visited him either at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, California, or at his home in Palo Alto.

Like most of them, Jobs was nothing short of kind, caring, thoughtful, and thorough....far from the impatient, "whipper-snapper" I'd so often heard about!

I remember driving he and wife Loreen to San Francisco for the premier of "Toy Story-2" (Jobs was also Founder and CEO of 'Pixar Animation'), and as they conversed in the back seat of my sedan, I noticed his deep, romantic affection for Loreen, and their shared, mutual love and nurturing thoughts concerning their children.

Jobs was more a romantic than a dictator, and though his perfectionist, hands-on approach often led him to bark out orders (even in limousines), he never issued more than a polite suggestion to me.

I especially recall his happy, smiling mood one night wearing a tuxedo in 1997, after I drove him home and congratulated him upon being RE-appointed Apple's Chief Executive. (I only wish I'd bought more apple stock then!)

As for meeting Al Davis for the first time, it was intimidating, especially since I grew up a true Raider fanatic, and was more or less ordered to approach him after he spoke at the 'Nugget" Hotel-Casino in Carson City, Nevada.

In 1982 I was a TV cameraman shooting for the NBC affiliate in Reno, and we (my reporter and I) were there covering the Nevada State Legislature...when out of nowhere we stumble onto this press luncheon hosting the legendary Raider Boss.

My reporter immediately urged me to "get up there and grab him for a one-on-one interview", and I just happened to be wearing my silver and black windbreaker with white striped lining, and he immediately locked onto THAT....as I moved toward him.

He was very kind and cordial to me but said, "no thanks, not right now. I really like that jacket though--you must be a Raid-ahh's fan!" I said, "you bet!"...and he raised his fist exclaiming, "good to hear that!"

Three-years later I was the TV reporter, a sportscaster from Bakersfield, California doing a five-part mini series on the LA Raiders at their training camp in Oxnard, California.

I got every shot and interview I sought that day except for Mr. Davis....who'd been elusively prowling every corner of the field, as if to appear un-noticed before suddenly sneaking up to tease players (I recall him cackling beside Lester Hayes), before quickly disappearing again.

I really wanted to get an interview, or at least a shot of Mr. Davis on tape, however, when asking permission from his executive assistant Gil Hererra, he told me,"don't even try, don't even get near him, or he'll boot you out of here."

To this day I don't know what force prompted me, but I said..."to hell with it"...and finally approached him a bit later when he stood alone, and fairly close by.

Once again, Al Davis was cordial to me, this time saying "no thanks Pete, I'd ratha you get shots of Tom (Headcoach Flores) and the team...but thanks faa commin all the way from bak-ahh'sfield to covaah the Rad-ahh's".

Then, I told him how much I enjoyed growing up a die-hard fan, following all the great Raider playoff wins, and the incredible, miracle comebacks! He said, "yea...there wah many great ones!"

Suddenly, I recalled the 1976 season opener in Oakland against the Pittsburgh Steelers in which the Raiders rallied from 14-points down in the final five-minutes to win. That victory led to their first Superbowl Championship.

His eyes lit up, and we went back and forth detailing those final five minutes, my recall accurately matching his. He must have been impressed, because we carried on for another ten-minutes (it seemed like an hour) of detailed recollections!

Finally he closed with "thanks young man, I like that...I'm gonna remembaah you!" I walked away, head spinning and pleased....but still without any video-tape of Davis.

I imagine without showing my dedication and reverance for the Raiders, Al Davis may not have been quite so nice to me, however, I still witnessed first hand how he, much like Steve Jobs, had a soft side that revealed itself often--especially to those who surrounded and were loyal to him.

So, as the flags at Raider Headquarters in Alameda, California, and at Apple Headquarters in Cupertino remain fluttering at half-mast, let us honor the memories of two similar, fallen legends in their own time....Steve Jobs and Al Davis, each of whom left behind thriving franchise's (The 3-2 Raiders upset Houston on Sunday, and Apple's stock has risen since Wednesday), and who's contributions made the Earth a better planet to live on for countless millions!

Sunnyvale Gunman Shareef Allman

Sunnyvale and Cupertino was on lock down on October 5, 2011, Shareef Allman walked into Lehigh Hanson’s Permanente Cement Plant in Sunnyvale with a Glock and AK47, targeting certain individuals. Allman killed three and injured six. The Streets of East Palo Alto Are A Death Trap

On September 21, 2011 the community of East Palo Alto was awaken to a car chase and a fatal accident. At 5:25 a.m. a woman that lived on the 400 block of Bell Street called the police said “someone is trying to break in my house”. The police saw a dark colored Land-Rover attempted to pull it over, but the driver fled. While fleeing the driver of the Land-Rover hit a motorcyclist, East Palo Alto’s 50 year old Danny Lee Dixon causing his death. That same morning a 6 year old girl was hit by car while crossing Bay Road and Gloria Way in East Palo Alto on her way to Green Oaks Academy. The person who hit her was a teacher on her way to Costano Elementary School. This teacher had a DMV record of speeding and talking on a cell phone while driving. I can’t imagine what the family is going through and let alone the community of East Palo Alto. The 6 year old girl was due to turn 7 on October 2, 2011. The community of East Palo Alto saying that Bay Road and Gloria Way is a very dangerous intersection an 8 year old boy was hit by a car just 5 months ago. He suffered broken bones causing him to wear a body cast. What I don’t get is that they know that this intersection is so dangerous how come the City of East Palo Alto has not done anything to make it safer, like putting stop signs or stop lights. What do the people of East Palo Alto have to loose another child before someone says enough?

Another "Gut-Wrenching" Search Turns Up The WORST!!

Michelle Le, the beautiful 26-year old Vietnamese nursing student who went missing from a parking garage next to Kaiser Hospital in Hayward, California four months ago, has finally been found....however, not, as her family and many thousands of supporters had faintly hoped.

Le's badly de-composed skeletal remains were discovered Saturday in a brushy, un-incorporated area in Niles Canyon between Sunol and Pleasanton, California...thus confirming what most had feared--that Michelle was abducted and slain shortly after going missing last May 27th.

This is yet another heart-searing chapter of senseless murder where, not only the immediate family, but entire communities of concerned people, whether friends, strangers, possibly you, even ME--have become entranced in the search, along with all the hopes and prayers surrounding it; only now to be slapped down in grief!

None of us can possibly imagine the utter HELL Le's family has suffered, and will continue to endure....but, based on enormous public support, thousands upon thousands of people near and far, want them to know our hearts, prayers, and thoughts are with them!

I vividly remember similar horror stories, among them the still unsolved 1998 kidnap and murder of 13-year old Christina Williams in Fort Ord, Seaside California, the 1993 slumber party kidnapp and eventual strangling death of 12-year old Polly Klaas in Petaluma, California, the horrific abduction and murder of 8-year old Sandra Cantu just two years ago in Tracy, California, and even the nightmarish saga of 11-year old Jaycee Lee Dugard who was kidnapped and held captive in Antioch, California for 18-years before finally being rescued from captors Phillip and Nancy Garrido this year!

In each of these family tragedies, and countless others in and around the Bay Area, an entire nation eventually took notice, only to see another innocent life savagely snuffed out, leaving heart-broken families and angered communities to choke on it!

In each of these cases, the un-healthy emotions of family, friends, and strangers were quelled only by closure that comes from capture and just punishment of killers like Richard Allen Davis (Polly Klass's murderer), Melissa Huckaby (Sandra Cantu's killer), and Modesto's Scott Peterson who murdered his wife Lacy and their unborn son....and now awaits the death penalty at San Quentin Prison in San Rafael, California.

In this latest tragedy, police have already arrested and charged prime suspect Giselle Esteban, an estranged, ex-friend of Michelle Le's who is besieged with mountains of rock-solid evidence placing her at the abduction scene, in Le's abandoned car, and in the remote mountains where Le's body was found!

Among the remaining facts are exactly how Le was killed, and whether or not it will cast additional light on Esteban's alleged guilt...or vindication.

The optimum story comes from the woman who created (M.A.D.D) "Mothers Against Drunk Driving" ....who I actually met and interviewed in 1983 while working as a TV reporter in Reno, Nevada. I wish I could remember her name, but I do remember her story!

Her first husband and three children were killed by a drunk driver. Then, her second husband and THEIR two boys were killed by a drunk driver, as were her THIRD husband and THEIR only infant daughter!!!

This polite, soft spoken, humble soul--somehow managed to survive, and keep breathing through all that...while still fighting to help prevent her mis-fortune from happening to others! Her resilience makes anything seem possible, even if....we seemed destined to live in a world filled with EVIL!

As for Michelle Le, may God take her to rest with him in peace, may her killer receive just punishment, and may her family continue to shine even through the endurance of ultimate pain!

Nothing expresses this hope more than the family spokesperson Krystine Dinh's closing words yesterday, "Please continue praying for and supporting Michelle as our family begins the journey to ensure justice in her honor".

about two years since Solyndra in Fremont California broke ground and

secured over $535-million dollar federal loan guarantee part of the

$787-billion economic stimulus package to create jobs now files

bankruptcy. How did this happen? I thought when President Obama visited in

May 2010; maybe the economy was finally going to turn around with green

tech jobs. Solyndra is not alone, Spectrawatt Inc. in Hopewell Junction,

New York filed on August 19, 2011, Evergreen Solar Inc. in Marlboro,

Mass., filed on August 15, 2011. Solyndra said “its business had run into

trouble because of difficult global business conditions, including slowing

demand for solar panels, and stiff competition.” The United States

Department of Energy said “China’s subsidies to its solar industry were

threatening the ability of Solyndra and other American manufacturers to

compete.” Three U.S. solar companies to fail in the same year and one

month apart is unacceptable someone did not do their homework, The FBI

served a search warrant on September 8, 2011. The CEO of Solyndra Brian

Harrison is under investigating for possible fraud. The House subcommittee

wants him to testify next week they want to know how Solyndra won its

loans. The United States has been known for being the inventor of

technology. What happened? Why are we falling short? I feel for the 1,100

employees that were laid off. The former employees of Solyndra in Fremont

Califorina have a class action lawsuit seeking severance pay. The law

makers need to stop fighting among themselves and work together to make is

Take me out to the BRAWL-game, take me out to the CROWD!

I'm an Oakland Raider fan who found it painful enough watching on TV as the rival 49ers took apart my team during last Saturday night's pre-season game at Candlestick Park in San Francisco...having to remind myself this was just practice!

Little did I know the REAL pain came from what the FANS were practicing in the stands, the bathrooms, and the parking lots!

More than a handful of violent brawls and a shooting left several folks injured, three very seriously, with one man still in life-threatening condition...all of which led to 39 justified arrests, and a good chance the NFL may cancel this annual pre-season game.

Like thousands of others, I checked out the internet replays on YouTube, watching two women punch each other out, an old gray-haired man shove a younger man back down three rows of seats, a few other sustained brawls between Raider and 49er fans flayling away clad in rival jerseys, with sparce security, and young children looking on!

"What in the hell is going on here?" I mean, sure...this is nothing new! Violence has cast itself on most sports, and not just in America but world wide.

Check out the international history of sports violence and you'll find it all...beating deaths, mass stampedes, riots and murdered soccer referees--making what happened in San Francisco look tame!

However, it should not sway the arguement that something has got to be done, right HERE and right NOW!!

These lastest incidents have sparked another huge fire of controversy, just as the Bay Area was starting to simmer down after the "Brian Stow" incident in April, where an upstanding Giants fan (a paramedic no less) was nearly beaten to death in Los Angeles on opening day at Dodger Stadium.

Perhaps we should look to the past for possible solutions. Did fans drink and party as much before and during games back then? What was security like at stadiums 40 years ago? Probably much the same as today, with no secret security measures, just less people to secure!

I do remember watching my first live pro football game on September 3rd, 1967 at the Oakland Coliseum as the upstart Raiders lost to John Brody and the 49ers 13-10 in their first EVER meeting to close out that pre-season.

I saw no fights, altlhough there were probably lots of security guards, lots of beer, and just as many rowdy fans in an environment similiar to all the other NFL and AFL stadiums back then, confronted with controlling violence between rival fans in the stands!

It was interesting to remember who the big team bosses were 44-years ago! John Rauch coached the Raiders, Jack Christianson coached the 49ers, and then ONLY part-owner and lowly general manager Al Davis had just celebrated his 38th birthday 2-months before.

I think even big Al, and thousands more would agree with me now that security should be stepped-UP significantly in a coordinated, well-thought out way....taking into account the realization (and I agree with this) that the majority of Bay Area fans are good people, and it is just the few ignorant, stupid, low-life, substance abusing, drunkard, socially crippled bullies out looking for trouble--THAT CAUSE IT!

Finally, here's one last security measure idea, and I thought this up myself! Let's call it the "sophisticated fan liazon screen" and place it at every stadium entrance gate, equipped with state-of-the-art, hygenically safe breathalizer testing hoses.

Every fan over the age of 12 MUST submit to a quick alcohol breath test, and answer an eye-to-eye question by a designated security screener. Those failing either test...don't get in! They can re-sell their ticket on the way out!

I know this may take time and big bucks to impliment, however, imagine adding this ENTRANCE SCREEN to already upgrated security, and decreased selling of alcohol...and I think parents would find it safe to take the kids to the big game again!

Man Who Shut Down San Rafael Richmond Bridge Found Dead

On August 17, 2011 Peter James Thomas 38, in the early morning shot at the
San Rafael Richmond Bridge from the Extended Stay Deluxe hotel at 1775
Francisco Blvd. in San Rafael California. Peter J Thomas robs a groceries
store and stab two employees. His stupid actions caused all kind of
headaches for law enforcement for the City of San Rafael. The San Rafael
Richmond Bridge was shut down for hours, causing the morning commute to be
all messed up. Guest at the hotel to be evacuated causing the hotel to
spend extra money to put the guest in another hotel, and all the money
that was wasted on the emergency vehicles, police standing around and
waiting. With the economy being so bad, they should have tear gassed the
room went in and ended it would have save a lot of money. The authorities
knew that Peter James Thomas was wanted in Marin County on a $70,000
warrant for burglary, weapons and drug charges. I’m saying if that was
anybody of color you can beat they would not have waited that long to end
the situation. I think Peter J Thomas knew what he was doing when he held
up in that hotel room, he probably did not want to go to jail so he killed
himself. I say oh well! At least he won’t keep causing tax payers anymore
money. I know this sounds cold blooded, but some people you just can’t
save.

Two Men Arrested In the Oakland Body Burning Case

This is a cold blooded world now days. On July 14, 2011 Monica Rodas from Union City body was found burning in the street of Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland. This was the act of cold blooded individuals, to set a body on fire and throw it on to the street like a piece of trash. Oakland Homicide investigators have been questioning the two men about the murder. I feel so sad for Monica Rodas two year old son, his mother will not get to see him son grow up. I sure hope they got the right men who done this heinous act. These two individuals need to be off the streets so this will not happen to anyone else by these two evil individuals.

San Francisco Police Shooting 35 Arrested

A protest in San Francisco got out of hand. On July 16, 2011 19 year old Kenneth Harding was shot nine times after he shot at the police. This all could have been avoided, only if Kenneth Harding had not ran from and shot at the police first. The San Francisco police say they approached him for not paying his fair on the light rail train. Kenneth Harding in my opinion wanted to be shot because he knew if he was arrested the police would find out about his criminal past. Kenneth was a person of interest in a fatal shooting in Washington state if he wasn‘t guilty he would have not shot at the police. What really gets me is the way some protesters hear about a police shooting and start protesting when they don’t have all the facts which lead to the shooting in the first place. San Francisco police arrested 35 people for dropping a smoke bomb at the light rail station,throwing a hammer at the police station window and failure to disperse. I feel San Francisco police were in the right. Any sane person knows that if you shoot at the police they are going to shoot back. The protesters who were arrested needed to be arrested because ignorance can cause you to do stupid stuff.

Casey Anthony Not Guilty of Murder

There are people in this world that can’t have children for one reason or another. Then there are people who have children who abuse them and even
kill them just because they feel they can. This is what happened to two year old Caylee in June 2008 in Florida. Casey Anthony lied and told authorities that the nanny kidnapped Caylee. Casey misleads authorities her parents got a tattoo that said “beautiful life” and partying while her daughter was missing. This so called mother seemed to not have a care in the world from her actions. Six months later when Caylee’s body was found in the woods near the Anthony family home, Casey was caught in a lie. Why
did Casey lie for six months saying the nanny kidnapped her daughter and kept on lying if she didn’t kill her daughter? I am not surprised by the
juries decision their always finding people with no evidence what so ever guilty and people with evidence like a video tape not guilty. That is just the way our justice system is and will continue to be as long as we have lawyers who distort the facts so that juries have no way of knowing the truth from a lie. Casey Anthony is a sick b---- if she didn’t do it why did she have to lie and deceive if she was innocent? What really pissed me off was that smile when she was not found guilty that was a smile that said I got away with it. US Airways Serious Case of Double Standards

This young generation fashion statements are really out there. Some of the males go around with sagging pants. The definition of sag: is to hang or droop instead of remaining firm or level. My son when he was growing up would try and walk around with his pants sagging and I would pull them all the way down every time I saw them sagging. After awhile he stopped sagging around me. On June 15, 2011 US Airways flight attendant told 20 year old DeShon Marman a University of New Mexico football player pull up his pants. His boxer shorts were showing and she thought that was indecent. The flight attendant claimed that he was showing a body part, but the surveillance video showed no skin showing. A US Airways spokeswoman Valerie Wunder said the airline’s dress code forbids “indecent exposure or inappropriate” attire.

On June 9, 2011 US Airways let a man wearing women under wear bra panties and thigh high stockings fly. Valerie Wunder contradicted herself she said “we don’t have a dress code policy”
Wunder said “Obviously, if their private parts are exposed, that’s not appropriate…so if they’re not exposing their private parts, they’re allowed to fly. This is outrageous! I think that this is a case of discrimination, how can you let a man wearing ladies under garments fly and make a big stink out of someone wearing sagging pants. I know if a lady tried to fly wearing her underwear she would be banned. I say shame on you US Airways for their double standard.

Union City District Schools Pay $725,000 in a Civil Rights Lawsuit

It is a shame now days that we still have racial harassment in our public schools. Parents can’t send their children to school to get an education without the fear of gangs coming on to campus and targeting them because of the color of their skin. This law suit claimed that the Union City school district ignored complaints that members of a mostly Latino gang were coming onto campuses and attacking African American students. In 2007 Vernon Eddins a student of Union City school district, was shot to death by a Latino gang. I think their civil rights were violated because their complaints were ignored for years. Union City school district should have not ignored the complaints all of these years they wouldn’t have to pay $725,000. I think the school district should have had some kind of security already in place, so anyone could not just come on to campus. It does not matter who is complaining, all of our children have the right to an education in a safe environment. As far as all gangs are concerned, they need to be sent over to Afghanistan and Iraq. They think their so bad, lets see how bad they are when their being shot back at and blown up.

What Do You Think About California Slashing Monitoring Of Gang Parolees?

The State of California is making budget cuts that could impact all of our lives. In Sacramento, The Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation going to stop GPS monitoring 550 gang parolees, out of the 950 they are monitoring right now. Also there are 1.700 parolees who are on home detention. Sacramento’s Department of Corrections is going to cut this number to 500 to save the state $6 million. Thank God their keeping the GPS monitoring on the 7,550 sex offenders. This is going to happen on July 1, 2011. With the budget cuts in law enforcement, all over The State of California, will we be safe? I don’t think so! Back in 2002 my son was sitting at the bus stop on McLaughlin road in San Jose minding his own business coming home from school. When a car with five gang members of the Northenos gang jump out and tried to jump him for no reason. My son knocked down two of them and took off running up the middle of McLaughlin.

This Lady in a Black Ford SUV saw the whole thing. She rode up on the side of my son, open the door and told him to jump in. My son hesitated, but he got in, they went looking for a police officer. My son filled a report, but nothing came of it, the police said with out a positive ID they could not do anything. Over 100 police officer were laid off in San Jose in June and 1050 gang parolees aren’t going to be monitored. What’s wrong with this picture? I say everything.These gang parolees most of them will fall back to their old ways. This means more crime and I hate to say more killings. We as a community are going to have to look out for each other.

Cecilia Mortensen 14 years old was shot by Jerry Wayne Steele the man who stalked and sexually assaulted her. The girl and her mother had to move

Three Month Old Baby Shot And Killed in Palo Alto

Izack Jesus Jimenez life ended in East Palo Alto before it even had a chance to begin. He was shot in the head on Sunday June 5, 2011, while riding in his parent’s car. While Bullets hit the car, Izack’s mother tried to shield Izack and his 4 year old brother from the bullets, but it didn’t help. This was a senseless shooting, by a 17 year old gang member,
who was beaten up on May 31 in Redwood City. This punk thought Oscar Jimenez was the one who did it. It was unfortunate that Oscar Jimenez and his family were the targets of this young punk. The San Mateo County
District Attorney’s Office is deciding if they should charge this punk as an adult Really! What is it to decide on? I get pissed when these gang member act like their so tough, but when they get their butts kicked the first thing they want to do is get a gun shoot. Congressman Anthony Weiner sent explicit photos of himself on twitter and then lied about it saying someone hacked is account. Then he cried like a punk a-- baby when he admitted he sent the pictures to the wrong site. How stupid is Congressman Weiner, first of all he should not have lied he should have manned up and told the truth. Now he is probably going to be investigated by the House Ethics Committee. As far as getting reelected or running for Mayor of New York, I think he blew his chances. If I lived in New York I would not vote for him, if he lied about this then what else does he have to hide? Some people are loosing their minds on these social networking sites, they don’t think about the repercussions of their posts. The Death Of Bin Laden

The number one most notorious fugitive in American history is dead, he was killed on May 1, 2011. Is it a good thing or is it a sign of something else to come? I remember when 911 happened, I got up that morning to get my kids ready for school turned on the news and saw the first plane hit the first tower. I thought what a horrible accident and started to cry for all those people who lost their lives. When the second plane hit and the news reported a terrorist attacks around the country, I became angry. I thought whoever was behind this had to pay. When we all found out that Bin Laden and his extremists were behind the attacks, the country came together and the main focus was to find Bin Laden and his extremist and kill theme. Well almost ten years later, countless lives destroyed and lost justice has been served. I am glad they didn’t capture Bin Laden and put him on trial and waste all that money and put all the people who lost someone on 911 through years of a trial. Bin Laden got what he deserved as well as the people who were with him. I fill that just because Bin Laden is dead it is not over. The news reported that Anti-American violence is at high alert, as well it should be. Just because Bin Laden’s dead there are still extremist out there wanting revenge. I feel that the Bin Laden extremist already have plans in the motion to attack Americans. I hope and pray it does not happen, but we have to be on guard for ever because we never know where and when the next big attack will take place.

Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 Holes in Fuselage

If you like flying Southwest Airlines out of San Francisco, Oakland and
San Jose like me, you better think twice. On Friday April 1, 2011, April Fools Day of all days, flight 812 from Phoenix to Sacramento had to make
an emergency landing in Arizona. A 5-foot hole occurred in the fuselage 20 minutes after takeoff. I can only imagine what was going through the passenger’s minds, when all of a sudden the plane looses pressure and the
oxygen mask start falling. Southwest airlines canceled 70 fights for Monday. Out of the old 79 Boeing 737-300 33 planes were returned for service, and two planes were found to have cracks in the fuselages so far.I am wondering how many more major problems they are going to find. What I
don’t understand is how they missed cracks like these when they are supposed to be inspected routinely. It seems to me that somebody is not doing their job. Southwest Airlines is probably not the only airlines with this problem with their older Boeing 737-300 planes. I hope the other
airlines, take what happened at Southwest seriously and inspect their older model planes. So we won’t have a senseless tragedy, due to negligence.

This is a letter i received from a good friend of mine living in Japan. It was so compelling I asked if he would share it which he agreed.

Hi,

Just wanted to touch base. Just started a job on the 28th and was at the office in downtown Tokyo when it hit. Was on the 22nd floor of a 54 story building and the building was swaying in what I would call a spectacular fashion. This was much worse than the 89 Loma Prieta quake in the San Jose Ca area by far. Standing upright was very challenging. The quake itself lasted more than 3 minutes and the building continued to move much longer. Have had almost 3 major aftershocks per hour ever since and just writing my recollections about this gives me vertigo. No one panicked probably because we have temblors here all the time (1 or 2 a month). After the the first minute and the shaking didn't stop I thought maybe it was just the building movement but that motion usually subsides this however was different in that it just wasn't slowing down. Power, internet, water and gas service incredibly were not interrupted at all in the area both during and after the quake. We were wondering how bad things were because looking out the window you couldn't tell. Probably because all the other buildings were swaying the same way. I was glad that no smoke was visible through the office windows and no other signs of damage were visible and was vainly hoping that it was just another slightly larger than the average event. This view of course would change as hours later we learned the true extent of the damage.

After the swaying stopped some of the staff wanted to get back to work not really realizing what had happened. People were trying to use there cell phones Those of us who have experienced major events or watched the buildings attacks on 9/11 unfold knew that getting out quickly when it seemed safe was the prudent course of action. Entering the stairwell I was surprised that not many people were evacuating and incredibly some were going up the stairway. While the buildings structure held up really well in the office area and no obvious damage was visible. The stairwell on the other hand had a lot of masonry on the edges of the floor. This was dislodged by the difference in motion of the stairs and the main structure. The walk downstairs as you can imagine was a long one and we began to see many people as we got to lower levels. Once in the building lobby it was packed with folks but there was no sense of panic just anxiety as to whether it was all over or more was yet to come. Going outside was a real sight, the usually bustling walkways with folks were now overcrowded with people going every which way or gazing up at the many skyscrapers that line the streets. Not many cars were on the road yet but lots of pedestrians were.

We ducked into a cafe and sat down to get our wits together and wait things out for awhile. We heard passersby's saying that all train service had shut down and that most road ways were filled with people and cars at a virtual stand still. The streets outside were very crowed with folks too afraid to stay in the skyscraper office building in the area. After about an hour I went to Shinjuku station which is the one I use now and one of the major train hubs in town and found all train lines were shutdown (no shock there). I was concerned about getting home and could tell that about 2 million others were as well based on the size of the crowds. This station has about 3 million pass through it on an average day in which this was turning out to be anything but average. Train officials using loud speakers were calling out and numerous signs were posted saying that, yes indeed, everything was stopped indefinitely. It was here for the first time we could see TV news reports of what was happening and that it was truly bad. We went back to the cafe and stayed there for a few hours and after dark two of our group decided to walk back home and the rest of us decided to go back up in the building. The aftershocks had subsided a bit and were now only about one per minute as opposed to 5. It was getting really cold so a warm well lit environment was a welcome respite.

Once up in the build which was functioning again I was able to contact the family and let them know I was ok and that they had all gotten home. All but my youngest (a 4th grader) were home when the quake hit. He was walking home from school with a number of others and he was found they were all safe and sound. My oldest son then guided them home. They not know how I was or exactly where we naturally concerned and it was more than six hours I was able to contact them using a skype internet connection. In the past I had casually mentioned that I could walk if push came to shove in such a situation and were worried that I had. Knowing as I do that you don't go wandering off after night fall in near freezing weather after a major disaster had decided against such a move. I had confirmed that train service was still down I and the other employees were resigned to spending the night at the office on the 22nd floor. Not my first choice of places to be but considering the shivering tired faces of those at the station decided it was probably the best place.

It wasn't till after 1am that one of the managers learned some segments of the train lines had reopened and with some planning could navigate his way to his home station. He knowing that we lived nearby suggested I come with him and that he and his wife could drive me home once we arrive. Well after a long night of train connections and waiting in line we were able to get to his station and his wife was waiting for us. It was by far the most tiring journey of my life and was thankful to see it finally come to an end. We arrive at my house about sun up and was grateful that while there was visible damage it wasn't anywhere near as bad as we had seen other areas. Finding my family safe at the neighbors house was a welcome sight to see.

The house we are renting is pretty far outside of Tokyo but had damage and some older homes are in pretty bad shape. Fortunately we had long ago planned for this and had things bolted, locked and strapped down so nothing had fallen or been broken. Our neighborhood watch group had helped everyone shut off gas and power until it could be determined it was safe to have on. Our house like others in the area unfortunately will require some work to get it back to the way it was before. Our landlord has advised us that we will have to leave the house temporarily. With having been under employed for more than a year now this is going to be a major hardship and we have no way to pay for the temporary relocation amongst other things needless to say. I know others however were not so fortunate, loss of loved ones and as you saw on the news escaped only with their lives and clothes on their back. We are however in dire straights at the moment.

The sheer scale of the damage is not (nor can it) accurately portrayed in the news. Food now in stores is almost non-existent right now and the prices of everything have shot up. With the disruption of transport and the like it is not known how or if this will be short or a longer term issue.

TSUNAMI IN JAPAN KILLS THOUSANDS

An 8.9 earthquake off the shore of Japan triggered a 23-foot tsunami killing thousands. People were running for their lives, but they could not escape the massive wave of water and debris. The Tsunami carried away
homes, ships, cars and people. The people living in Onahama Japan where the nuclear power plant is were told to move back two miles from the nuclear power plant in case of leakage. Now the people are evacuating because the unclear power plant is leaking. The Tsunami that hit Japan was horrific, it could have been devastating if would have happened at night. Not only did it affect Japan it also affected the Hawaiian Islands and the Western Coastal States. Hawaii and the West Coast had a warning unlike
Japan. Crescent City California harbor and docks were destroyed and damage is in the multi millions. Santa Cruz California was hit hard by this tsunami, there docks and harbor were damaged as well. Boats were swept out
to sea, but some people did not heed the warning to stay away from the beach. People were walking their dogs and had their children on the beach. These people have to be some of the stupidest idiots I have ever seen.Three men decided to take their cameras to the Klamath River in Del Norte County to get pictures. All three were swept away by a surge two made it back to shore, but the other one is still missing. The traffic was a nightmare on highways 17 and 152. Streetwise Special Delivery Courier driver was caught in the traffic this morning it took him two and a half
hour to get back to San Jose. He saw people camped out on the side of the roads with their families they were still in their pajamas under blankets. People of California are you ready for a tsunami as big as the one that hit Japan; it is going to happen one day.

BEWARE of the latest SCAM!!!

Royal Bank received this communication about the newest and most clever scam that's happening in Alberta, Canada right now, and moving south....possibly to the San Francisco Bay Area!

Two of Royal Bank's clients were called by potential scammers two days ago, while an old college friend of mine who lives in Danville, California, received a similiar call just yesterday afternoon!

The warning information I'm about to share is well worth reading, so you can understand how this latest VISA/Mastercard scam works in order to protect yourself!

This one is so slick that they provide YOU with all your credit card information, never asking for your card number, because they already have it! What they want is your 3-digit security PINcode.

The scam works like this: A person calls you and says..."This is (their name), and I'm calling from the Security and Fraud Department at VISA. My badge number is 65432, and your card has been flagged for an unusual purchase pattern that I'm calling you to verify."

"This would be on your VISA card which was issued by (so and so bank). Is that correct?" When you say 'YES' they ask...."Did you happen to purchase an Anti-Telemarketing Device for $497.99 from a company based in Arizona?"

When you say 'NO', the caller continues...."Then we will be issuing a credit to your account. We've been tracking this particular company, and their charges range from $297 to $497, just under the $500 purchase pattern which flags most cards."

"Before your next statement, the credit will be sent to you at (they give your address), is that correct?" You say 'YES'.

Then the caller says...."I'll be starting a Fraud Investigation. If you have any questions, just call the 1-800 number listed on the back of your card (1-800 VISA), and ask for Security". "You will also need a 6-digit control number I'm about to give you. Yours is (gives a number). Do you need me to repeat it?"

Now, here is where the IMPORTANT part of the scam works! The caller then says...."I just need to verify that you are in possession of your card."

Then, the caller asks you to turn your card over and look at the 7-numbers on the back, noting the first 4 are part of your card number, while the last 3 are the security code numbers that verify you are in possession of the card. (These are the same numbers we use to make internet purchases)

The caller asks you to read those last 3 numbers, and when you do....they say--"Right, that is correct! I just needed to verify that your card has not been lost or stolen. Do you have any other questions?"

When you say 'NO', the caller thanks you and tells you not to hesitate to call back if you need any further information, and then hangs up!

Interestingly, YOU aren't required to say much at all during the call, except those 3 little numbers which they don't already know...the ones that can end up taking your money and damaging your credit! Here's how!

After a fraud call taken early this week by a Royal Bank customer, they smartly called back within 20-minutes, and the REAL VISA Security Department told them it was a scam, and that over the past 15-minutes a new purchase of $497.99 had been charged to their account! OUCH!!

Fortunatly, VISA quickly made a real fraud report, closed the account, and issued a new card to the victim. It's a good thing they called back when they did!

REMEMBER, what the scammers want is the 3-digit pin number on the back of your card. DO NOT give it to them! Instead, tell them you will call VISA or Mastercard directly to verify thier conversation!

In reality, neither VISA nor Mastercard would ever ask for anything on your card. They already know it. They issued the card!

However, if you give scammers that 3-digit code thinking you're going to receive a credit, you're in for an expensive shock! By the time you get your statement, odds are there will be multiple charges for purchases you never made, and by then it will be too late to file an effective fraud report.

IF you receive a call like this, HANG UP immediatly and file a police report, as instructed by VISA.

Apparently, several police agencies including those in Santa Clara County, have already taked several similiar fraud reports, and they ALL URGE us to tell everyone we know about this scam!

That's why I hope you are reading this blog now, because this latest scam appears to be extremely effective and clever!

"GIVE IT UP"...AL.

Before taking the plunge to join the multitude of Al Davis haters campaigning for his retirement or death, which ever comes first for the Oakland Raiders team owner--you must know a few facts about this writer.

I became a die-hard Raider fan in the Summer of 1967, just prior to entering the 4th grade, a month after Al's 38th birthday, upon which he'd graduated from the team's head coach and general manager, to bying highly into its ownership group.

Back then he was the savior-genius, both of the Raiders, and, of the National Football League...helping push through the AFL-NFL merger--much responsible for the league's billion-dollar success today!

Those first 20 years I watched the Raiders win 75-percent of their games, sweating, bleeding and weeping through the agony of close-call championship game losses, to miracle comebacks, to the ecstasy

of winning three Superbowl Championships...which helped vault King Davis into the Pro Football Hall of Fame!

Amazingly, the King could have won more Super Bowl rings, but things rapidly turned sour when Davis began spending more time in legal court, manuevering lawyers to bury his enemies, then on managing his team's throne, and leading the Raiders to victory!

Hence, the Raiders winning percentage shrunk almost as fast as Davis's popularity, alienating him from the press, the league, and many of the fans, myself not included. Somehow I stayed loyal, even through these past seven losing seasons!(Finally going 8-8 this year)

I guess I've just always compared Al Davis to money, in that, people talk about him all the time, without Al ever having to say a word...at least not publically.

But, unlike money, the talk about Al rarely rewards his raw reputation these days which ranges from selfish, egotistical, maniacal, vindictive tyrant....to mysterious, innovative, brilliant genius!

I always seemed hell-bent on defending him by using those latter definitions, but following his latest stunt at a rare press conference this week to promoting his hiring of new head coach Hue Jackson, even I see Mr. Davis as he actually looks...damn old at age 81!

During Wednesdays press conference in Alameda, Al spent more time blow-torching Tom Cable's reputation (The head coach he fired) than on promoting incoming Jackson!

Al bashed Cable in order to explain why he held back $120,000 of the ex-coach's paycheck, a ploy used to protect the Raiders from possible legal costs from suits aimed at Cable while he was at the helm.

Now, Cable wants his money, and I think he should get it! But, NO! Davis will fight him to the end in court...and most lilely win. You see? It's more of the same court time and legal maneuvering!

The same thing happened when Davis short changed Lane Kiffin a few pay checks after Al fired him in 2008...and Kiffin lost in court trying to get his money!

The same thing happened in 1988 when Al fired Coach Mike Shanahan and docked him $200,000 in salary for skipping to the rival Denver Broncos. (Shanahan never got paid, but did manage to boat-race the Raiders in 90-percent of their games over the next 7-years!)

The same thing happened a few years earlier, when Davis benched and black-balled his superstar Hall of Fame running back Marcus Allen for some mysterious mis-deed that Allen crossed King Davis with.

Whatever it was, Marcus never played against the best defenses in the league, who openly and publically feared having to stop Allen on the field, but never had to because King AL wouldn't allow it!

Allen was eventually traded to the Kansas City Chiefs, and helped them face-pump the Raiders in 80-percent of their games for another 7-years, instead of helping the Raiders win a few more Super Bowls just as he did in 1984!

And of course, the same thing happened with more, mega-court time and legal maneuvering that beat Commissioner Pete Rozelle and the NFL..allowing the Raiders to move to Los Angeles after the 1981 season.

They did return to Oakland in 1995, but during those 13-years down south, Davis spent too much time fighting the LA Coliseum Commission, mostly in court again, and things just never really panned out in LA, other than the one World Championship.

That was the Raiders last hurrah, January 22nd, 1984! A 38-9 pummeling of the Washington Redskins in Tampa Florida at Super Bowl 18--27 years ago TOMORROW!!

When will those glory days return for the Raiders? Does big AL have to die or step aside? Can the new head coach Hue Jackson spark new winning ways?

Perhaps he can, however, I feel it will take the current "BossMan" Mr. Al Davis to eitherstep down, or step aside and leave the vindication of his enemies to younger souls.

Then, and only then will the Silver and Black lay new claim to "Pride and Poise", and a 'Committment to Excellence' that we of the true Raider Nation so passionatly miss.

Step aside a while, Al....and GO RAIDERS!!

ANOTHER SENSELESS SHOOTING IN TUCSON ARIZONIA

Jared Loughner a disturbed individual went on a shooting rampage killing six people and seriously injuring eight. Among the six people he killed was federal Judge John Roll. This senseless act by Jared Loughner has left a community grief stricken. Jared Loughner’s main goal was to assassinate Arizona Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford. What is so sad a nine years old girl was killed Christina Taylor Green.
Christina was at the event because she was interested in government. She was recently elected to the student council at her school. It is so sad that Christina will not get to see how far she could have gone in the government, if that was her path. She could have possibly been the President of the United States, we will never know. When Christina was born, she was featured in a book called “Faces of Hope” that chronicled one baby from each state born on September 11, 2001.

Jared Loughner is a coward and a sick individual; he needs to be put out of his misery! I do not care what excuse he gave. I do not like what the government officials are doing most of the time and many other people fill the same way, but were not going on a shooting rampage killing innocent people. I hope and prayer Jared Loughner is tried a convicted swiftly and so the people of Tucson can start healing. My prayers go out to the community of Tucson Arizona.

FIREWORKS AROUND THE BAY AREA TO RING IN THE NEW YEAR

New Year’s Eve is always a fun time; people all over the world celebrate December 31. This is a time for people to reflect on the good and the bad of the previous year. Everyone is making New Year resolutions, promising themselves their going to stick to it. My New Years resolution is to help and many people I come in contact with.

There are a lot of parties going on around the Bay Area on New Years Eve here are some Fire Work displays to ring in the New Year. In San Francisco you can see fireworks at Embarcadero-Pier 14, Epic Roasthouse and Waterbar, Gordon Biersch Brewery Restaurant, and Hotel Vitale to name a few. In the East Bay the Alameda Port and Hornblower Cruise & Events in Berkeley has fireworks displays. Solano County Vallejo has a fireworks display at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. The South bay doesn’t have fireworks, but you can still ring in the New Year at the Agenda Bar and Lounge and the Fahrenheit Ultra Lounge & Restaurant in San Jose.

Now they’re having a tizzy fit, Republicans warning that it better pass or else in other words nobody will get anything. I say they both have a lot of nerve!

The Democrats and Republican lawmakers I feel are acting like kids. They are not trying to come together for the sake of America. All their worried about is who gets the most from this tax bill. Tuesday or Wednesday is supposed to be the final vote. Can these two parties come together? I sure hope so, because we the tax payers the ones who put these idiots in office will suffer. I think President Obama is doing his best comprising with both the Democrats and Republicans. President Obama is in my opinion the only one looking out for the people. He signed a Heath Care Reform Bill the first ever. If that’s not looking out for the people, then I don’t know what is. I can’t say that about that Bush joker we had in office for way too long. I feel President Obama is getting a bad rap. He came into to office when everything was messed up. The critics expect him to fix him to fail. I say to all you critics if it were not, for Bush era then maybe we wouldn’t be in the mess that were in.

JOHANNES MEHSERLE SENTENCE

The sentencing of Johannes Mehserle did not surprise me one bit. This
kind of injustice against people of color has been going on for centuries.
Johannes Mehserle gets sentenced to two years and is going to serve only
seventy two days. Really! Taking a mans life is not as important as
killing a dog. Michael Vick had to serve twenty three months for his
crime. What in the heck is wrong with our justice system. Just because
Mehserle was a police officer he got away with taking a life. Police
officers all over this country have been taking lives and getting away
with it. I say that's bull crap! People get sentenced to prison for years
for doing drugs, their not hurting anyone but themselves. Know wonder
people of color in the cities all over America don't like or trust law
enforcement.

What happened at the Bart station in Oakland California happens more
often then people want to believe, I say to those non believers, people
take the blinders off and wake the heck up.This could have happened to
anybody of color, and it will continue to happen as long as we have cops
like Johannes Mehserle on police forces all over this country. People I
know are always getting harassed by the police just because of the color
of their skin. Oscar Grant was face down and was not resisting arrest ,
but yet he's dead. I feel Mehserle meant to shoot Grant he knew darn well
the difference between his gun and his tasser. Johannes Mehserle is lying
and he knows it and God knows it and he will have to face what he did
one. Johannes Mehserle and all police officers who have taking a life
unjustly, know the saying "do on to others as you would have them do
on to you."

FRAUDULENT CHECK SCAM

Taking peoples life savings, ruining their credit and possibly getting them charged with fraud just because they were sent a check for thousands of dollars. The check looks real it's from a well known bank. With economic times being so hard, the average person would deposit it in their checking account. The bank more than likely would accept it not thinking twice about it. Then a week or two goes by, the check does not clear. The banks calling and asking you when, how, where did you get the check and threatening to charge you with fraud.

I live in San Jose California, I received a check while I was on vacation, when I got back I was going through my mail, I open up this FedEx envelope there was this white envelope inside and nothing else. So I open it up and it is a check for $2,150, automatically I said who would send me a check out of the blue I could not think of anyone. I called the phone number on the FedEx package and left a message for the sender to call me back and let me know why they sent me this check. After a couple of days not hearing from the sender, I got on the Internet and found the number of the company who supposed to have sent the check The Methodist Hospital Harvey Smith 6565 Fannin St. Houstin TX 77030 called them and they said they don't send checks by FedEx it's fake. I knew that this check was to good to be true. The check was draw on JP Morgan Chase Bank 10430 Highland Manor Dr. 3rd Floor Tampa FL. 336610-0000.

People I know times are hard and money is tight, so if you get receive a check by FedEx, UPS or by regular mail. Do your homework don't take it as a gift from God or who ever. Check it out throughly it could save you a lot of aggravation. Like my mother used to say "all money is not good money".Word to the wise don't be a victim.

Halloween is around the corner and it seems like each year it gets spookier than the last. Many believe that Halloween's origins are found in the Celtic festival of Samhain. The Celts, who were located in Ireland, the UK and the northern parts of France, celebrated their New Year on the first of November. Samhain was celebrated the night before the New Year.
On October 31, the night before the New Year, the Celts celebrated Samhain. This day, they believed, was when the ghosts of the deceased returned to earth because the boundaries between the living world and the dead world blurred. Trick or treating comes from during the celebration,
the poor would come out and beg for food from the more wealthy families. When the families gave them pastries called soul cakes, they asked for the poor to pray for their relatives that had passed away.Dressing up in a costume for Halloween began many years ago adults began dressing in elaborate costumes for Halloween parties, also known as Masquerade parties, before it became an annual event for
children. With Hollywood movies appearing as time went by, gave us inspiration to make scary and creepy looking costumes that are extremely popular. Halloween is the one of the greatest and best known party on our holidays on our calandar. Halloween ranks right behind Christmas in the

Rescued Chilean Minors

Image by The Library of Congress via Flickr   The Chilean Mine rescue was a very scary story in the beginning. It then turned into this beautiful moment. Thirty three miners were trapped underground in a collapsed copper mine for sixty nine days. Rescue teams lifted the miners to surface one by one in a narrow, missile-like capsule. It took a lot of help and work from everybody to help save the men lives, and I thought it was a really nice chance for everybody to come together and help make this happen.
For this rescue it also cost a very large amount, and that is what is so awesome about the whole story.

   There were Drilling Experts that did every single thing to come together for these strangers. A drilling expert flew from an operation in Afghanistan to lend a hand and help with the drilling. US sunglasses maker Oakley contributed by donating thirty five pairs of sunglasses that usually sell for around $200 each, to protect the miners eyes when they returned to the surface. These men never gave up because they have family's and their children on their mind and tried they're hardest to survive threw this crisis. It shows hope, faith, and love can get you through the hardest moment of your life.

   This opened up my eyes and shows all of us, that good old fashion helping and sticking together goes a very long way. I'm sure this is an unforgettable moment for the men and also to everyone across the world who kept hope and prayers for them to be safe and rescued.
Thanks to everybody coming together, it definitely made a great change in the survivors lives. I am proud to share my thoughts of this very amazing moment.

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS HEAD FOR THE NL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

It has been 8 years since the San Francisco Giants have been in the National League Championship. Cody Ross it a home run and drove in the go ahead run with a seventh-inning single, leading the San Francisco Giants to a 3 to 2 victory over the Atlanta Braves. Each game was decided by one run and this made for a great series. If San Francisco can beat the Phillies it will be 21 years since the San Francisco Giants have been in the world series.

The last time was in 1989, it was the third game of that series. The San Francisco Giants were at home. They were warming up and all of a sudden the earth started shaking. It was the Loma Prieta earthquake that shook all of California. San Francisco Giants fans do you believe the San Francisco Giants can make it to the World Series? I don't know. I am not a fan of baseball, but I sure hope they do. Goooooooo Giants!

$194 MILLION GRANT TO
CALIFORNIA HIGH-SPEED RAIL

SACRAMENTO – Today, the California High-Speed Rail Authority was awarded a $194 million grant by the Federal Railroad Administration for preliminary engineering and environmental analysis.

“This funding award demonstrates again the continued confidence the federal government has in California and the progress we’re making in planning our state’s high-speed rail project,” said Curt Pringle, Chairman of the California High-Speed Rail Authority. “This will give California’s system the funds we need to complete the environmental review and bring us closer to realizing the enormous opportunity this project represents for our state.”

The Authority sought the $194 million, which will be matched dollar for dollar with state funds. The funding will contribute to the Authority’s ongoing environmental work and preliminary engineering in the segments connecting San Francisco to Los Angeles and Anaheim via the Central Valley.

The California High-Speed Rail Authority is the state entity responsible for planning, constructing and operating a high-speed rail system serving California's major metropolitan areas.

I know times are hard for everyone in the United States of America. The unemployment rate is high, people are wondering how they are going to keep a roof over their heads and food on the table. The County of San Bruno is having a tough enough time trying to get people who were affected in the natural gas explosion on September 9, 2010, some kind of aid so they can get back on their feet.

When every there is a disaster you will always have the scammers coming out of the holes they live in trying to get something for nothing.
Praying on the weak and distraught. San Bruno has had its share of these low life bottom feeders. Daniel Stansbury of Los Altos is the fifth person who claimed he was a victim of San Bruno natural gas explosion.

These type of people have the nerve to plead not guilty. They need to be held without bail, because if they would do something like this what’s stopping them from jumping bail. It sure makes me mad when I here stories like this, because everyone is having hard times. For all you scammers out their you will get yours in this world and in the after life.

Singling out Singletary!

As an avid pro football fan and former television sportscaster, I've followed the career of Mike Singletary with awe and respect....from his playing days as a Hall of Fame middle linebacker for the Chicago Bears, to his recent post as headcoach of the San Francisco 49ers.

His honest, no-nonsense style has added a positive swagger to the team, and in two short years he's reincarnated the 49ers back into playoff form, in my opinion!

However, last week Mike un-characteristically lost his cool during a tense T.V. interview in Santa Clara with KPIX-TV's sports director Dennis O'Donnell, after the head coach was asked about difficulty getting plays called during the team's first game...a blowout loss in Seattle.

For the first time ever, I questioned Singletary's integrity in handling this situation. Yes, it may have been bad timing! Yes, Singletary looked tired and agitated from the outset!

Yes, the team was preparing for an intense Monday night game against the defending world champion New Orleans Saints, and this was probably just his "pappa bear" style of watching over his cubs!.

Still, there was no call for Singletary to snap at O'Donnell following a few reverently asked and fairly phrased questions about his expectations of quarterback Alex Smith regarding play calling and clock management!

"I don't want to talk about any of that", shouted Singletary. "I only want to talk about New Orleans if you want to talk about them. Next Question!"

O'Donnel looked stunned, Singletarly appeared vindicated, and the interview ended abruptly in embarrasing fashion.

Frankly, I was more embarrased for Singletary, and ironically.... the 49ers ended up losing a heart breaker to the Saints that night at Candlestick Park.(now called Bill Walsh Field)
The story doesn't end there, however, as O'Donnell was immediately removed as host of this "Coaches Corner" interview segment, and replaced with field reporter Kim Coyle.
Question! WHY does the reporter(interviewer) ALWAYS get the short end of the stick?
In this instance, the show is part of a contract partnership whereas the 49ers have editorial input power, and spokesman Bob Lange claims the change in hosts was "a joint agreement to give future interviews a better dynamic".
I think it was more the case of Singletary getting ticked off at O'Donnell, and wanting a new interviewer! Either way, the move sparked many heated comments from fans around the Bay Area such as:
"O'Donnell did nothing wrong. It was Singletarly who acted like an idiot!"
"He's lucky he isn't in a more aggressive media market like Philly, Chicago, or New York....where Singletarly would never make it!'
"You get your ass handed to you by a team like Seattle with 15 new starters, and THAT is a situation where you have to be smarter. Get this guy out of here!"
"Singletary is now officially on the NUT LIST. The reporter just asked him questions that any fan would want to know the answers to....and the coach says the interviewer baited him? How stupid!"
"We're talking post concussion syndrome here. If this is how Singletary's handling things, he's un-prepared for the job, and ON the short list for goodbye coach land!"
Ok. Ok! These comments may be a little "over the top", because what happened to O'Donnell is just the way things often work! When I was a TV sports reporter I saw the same thing happen to a few colleagues.
While I always played fair, I was also careful to maintain healthy relationships with head coaches. It was either that or start looking for another job!
Five years ago, 'KNBR' sports radio host Larry Krueger was fired outright in San Francisco for harsh, questionable, and boarderline racist comments directed at Giants baseball manager Felipe Alou, along with several Central American-born teammates.
This time the coach was dead right to complain and DEMAND that Krueger be fired! However, O'Donnell didn't deserve his demotion!
Fortunately, he's still the sports director and lead sports anchor at KPIX, and Singletary did express a little bit of remorse following the incident.
"I say things that I feel, and I have to do a better job of not letting the media bait me the way they did in last week's incident. I have to do a better job at that end, and I have to be smarter in that sort of situation".
After the fact, I'm still pulling for Mike Singletary to succeed, and, while Kim Coyle should fill in nicely as his new show host, O'Donnell is also still around, and will survive.
Let's just hope for the 49ers, and their fans... that THEY are still around when playoff time arrives!
After all, this is the year Singletary's team is highley expected to step up and take part in post season play--or else HE may very well be looking for another coaching job!

SAN BRUNO NEIGHBORHOOD GOES UP IN FLAMES

People where get home from work, children were getting home from after school activities. Ready to prepare dinner, get started on home work and do thing all of us do after a long day away home. Then all of a sudden everyone was running for their lives, as their neighborhood went up in flames. A lot of people escaped with their lives, but some did not. It is a good thing this happened during the day time instead of at night when people were in their beds asleep. The casualties could have been enormous.

This kind of thing could have happened in any neighborhood in this country. I hope and pray that PG&E move swiftly to find out the cause to this explosion and prevent it from happening again. Streetwise Special Delivery Courier Service sends our prays out to the community in San Bruno California.

BURNING OF THE QURAN

First of all burning of any Holy Book, I my opinion is wrong. The Rev.Terry Jones is out of his so called Christian mind, he is supposed to be a Christian but he is a devil in disguise. He is a bigot and is saying every Muslim is no good and their Quran should be burned. His actions on September 11, 2010 would open old wounds that have been trying to kneel since that horrific day nine years ago. The Rev. Terry Jones actions will get a lot of people riled up especially the Muslim community. Who knows what they will do. Over in Afghanistan their already burning the American Flag and saying down with American Christianity. The Quran hasn’t been burned yet.

Rev. Terry Jones wants to burn the Quran because the Islamic community in New York wants to build a Islamic Center near ground zero. I think if the American people don’t want it built then they should protest and make their voices heard. Well The Rev. Terry Jones called off the burning of the Quran. This is a good idea on his part, because of all the violence his actions would have had on our Military and the American people. I think some people take this freedom of speech to serious. They don’t really take into consideration the consequences of what their saying will have on someone.

18-year old Kendra Fallon of San Francisco decided to spend her summer vacation on the other side of the world, volunteering to help kids at an orphanage in Nepal.

Unfortunately, her efforts were cut short Wednesday when Kendra and 14 others were killed in a plane crash while flying in bad weather outside Katmandu, thus depriving us of another bright star, who spent most of her life helping and inspiring others to make the world a better place!

That same night another tear-jerking tragedy hit in Oakland, California, when 13-year old track star Jimon Clark was shot and killed while walking home alongside his identical twin brother on Bankroft Avenue.

Like Kendra, Jimon was an over-achiever who's good deeds, magnetic personality, and bright future inspired fellow students, friends, family, teachers, and coaches.

He was eager to begin classes at Skyline High school, and set the track and field world on fire with numerous medals, as Kendra had done achieving countless honors at St. Ignatious College Preparatory.

Now, sadly, both Kendra's and Jimon's bright flames of hope and inspiration....have been extinguished.....far too soon!

I get sick each time I hear about tragedies like these which happen far too often, and I can't help but hope for some kind of silver lining, some kind of inspiration, some kind of good that can possibly add comfort to survivors?

San Jose football star Pat Tillman gave up a million dollar NFL career to join the US Army Rangers and go to Afghanistan to fight terrorism immediately after 9/11.

When he was killed in action on April 22nd, 2004, I wept....having watched Pat play for Leland High school in 1993, and then as an Arizona Cardinal when they defeated the Raiders at the Oakland Coliseum in 2001.

It wasn't just how Tillman played football, but the positive way he tackled life, challenging its tough deeds in a quiet, determined way that pumped-up everyone around him!

Why did he have to go so soon....and, why did someone have to senselessly gun down a bright and promising young 22-year old city-councilman from Fairfield named Matt Garcia in September, 2008?

Like Tillman, Garcia was an up and coming star with the rare ability to relate to 12-year olds the same way he did 65-year olds, and who also died ironically, due to a fluke case of mistaken identity!

So did Albert Cobarrubias, an honor graduate of San Jose State University, and the city's first homicide victim of 2010....who was shot and killed while playing pool in a friends garage.

Some drive by, gang-banging "scumbag" miss took Albert for someone else, and may never be caught and punished for his crime!

Fortunately, Matt Garcia's killer was found, and prosecuted, however, that shouldn't be his family's only comfort, nor should it be a concerned society's only consolation!

We need to rise up and remember everything good that came from these fallen hero's, and try to live our lives as they lived theirs, so that our children and youngsters learn too!

I vow to live like and remember Kendra Fallon, Jimon Clark, Matt Garcia, Albert Cobarrubias, and Pat Tillman, as soul's who's many actions replaced words, yet, who's soft spoken way commanded the attention and respect of everyone they came to know!

They, and so many like them....will be missed!

Egg lovers like my self are you pissed off, about this latest Salmonella outbreak? I know I am. I don’t understand why the FDA has not put stricter rules on farms that mass produce our food supply. This has been happening more often than I care to count.

I think the two Iowa farms Wright County Eggs and Hillandale Farms should be shut down. They knew that their supplier Jack DeCoster has been in news in the 90’s for heath a safety violations. Doing business with a person like this is bound to have a bad effect on you. DeCoster Egg Farm should have been put out of business along time ago. Jack DeCoster apparently has no regard for human life. He his a man that is all about the money and that’s all. I blame the FDA as well, for dropping the ball when it came to Jack DeCoster. The FDA should have been watching Jack DeCoster with a fine tooth comb.

People like myself with a weakened immune systems, are at such a high risk to becoming ill or dying from any contaminated food. The only way I know how to prevent myself and my family from getting sick is not to use eggs. I’m making my own food using egg substitute. When I eat out I make sure I know that what I’m eating and it does not have eggs in it. Egg lovers hopefully this Salmonella outbreak get under control quickly, try to stay well.

Meg Whitman is spending millions of dollars trying to become the next Governor of California. She is almost up to $100 million dollars, Wow!

that’s a lot of money. Do you every wonder where all this money goes? I know I sure do. It probably goes to special interest groups to get their votes. I know it’s her money and she can do with it as she please. Really!

does Meg fill a little bad about spending this kind of money when the economy is suffering. Apparently not!

Meg Whitman advertisements say she will not raise taxes on Americans, we’ll see. All these politicians say what the people want to here when they are trying to get elected. When they get into office they suddenly catch a case of amnesia. I think they should put a spending cap on politicians running for office. It should be nothing over lets say $50,000.00, lets see if they can when on the issues instead of how much money they have. Meg Whitman your trying to buy the Governorship, I say shame on you. Your money could help a lot of programs instead of what it’s going to. Well we will all see in November if it was worth the money.

WHY CALL IT SAN JOSE JAZZ FESTIVAL?

The 21st annual San Jose Jazz Festival is coming up August 13-15 in
downtown San Jose. What I don’t understand is! Why they are calling it San
Jose Jazz Festival? When they have on the main stage performers like
George Clinton & Parliament/Funkadelic, Tony Lindsey and Tower of Power.
That’s funk and R&B artist at a Jazz Festival. Come on! San Jose Jazz
committee needs to get a clue. They need to promote its local Jazz
musician. Artists like Times 4 Joe, DeRose and Amici and Jazz Vocalist
Nate Pruitt.

Over the years San Jose Jazz Festival has been about less Jazz. Back in
the day, they had artist like Steve Turre and Regina Carter, Bob Berg and
Arturo Sandoval just to name a few. I my opinion they should rename it
the San Jose Music Festival. I think the San Jose Jazz committee, is
calling it that, just to seem like their sophisticated. Stop faking the
Jazz Festival and get real Jazz artist and promote our local talent.

One of this year's most emotionally packed tragedies happened Thursday morning in Concord, California when 2-year old Jacob Bisbee was fatally mauled by three of the family's five pit bulls, after the toddler accidentally wandered into the garage where the dogs were staying.

The boy's step-grandfather and owner of the dogs, Steven Hayashi, age 52, has since been arrested and jailed on charges of child endangerment and possessing a mischievous animal that causes death or great bodily injury. His bail is set at 120-thousand dollars.

This story has sparked an array of emotional reactions posted all over the internet, mostly from saddened and angered Bay Area residents expressing everything from sorrow for the grieving family (even the grandfather) to outrage against pit bulls and their owners!

Many address the same recurring argument of just who is at fault....the pit bulls, or their owners-- and what should be done about it! Here are some examples: "It's disgusting. What kind of idiot keeps toddlers and vicious dogs in the same house?"

"A child that young should not be left alone with any animal, let alone a pit bull!"

"Don't tell me about the pit bulls, blame the irresponsable, sadistic, bad owners when things like this happen....not their dogs!"

"How can anybody defend pit bulls when this type of thing happens all the time!"

On the one hand, the above statement is supported by a recent rash of pit bull attacks nationwide over the past few months involving severe maulings.(even on two firefighters bitten at a house fire) Three of the attacks resulted in fatalities.

Over the past ten years, the San Francisco Bay Area has seen eight severe pit bull maulings, including the death of a 12-year old boy in San Francisco in June, 2005. Out of 345 people killed by dog attacks in the U.S.over the past 27 years, 159 have involved pit bulls! It's also reported that 25-percent of all dog bites are from pit bulls, thus further damning the case for safe pit bull ownership.

Nevertheless, my opinon is slightly mixed in that, I know several pit bull owners who's dogs are adorable, loving pets....thus reflecting the responsability and care given by thier owners.

I've also watched a few pit bulls develop from birth to a year old, each one becoming the most loving, friendly companions any legitimate owner would be proud safely have join thier family.

Notice that I also....am putting more heat on dog owners than on dogs, although no one should ever take for granted the instincts and un-predictable nature of any animal.

It was also sad, but not surprising to discover that following this terrible attack in Concord, Contra Costa County Services had all five dogs put to sleep, even though just one of the dogs had any violent tendencies.

However, the ultimate sorrow is for the loss of one wonderful, innocent young boy who would probably still be alive had his step-grandfather been as responsible as should be required by ALL dog and pet owners...especially those who own pit bulls!

A few states actually have specific laws requiring muzzles and leashes on pit bulls that are not on their owners property. Perhaps this is something California ought to consider, as well as some type of special screening program for anyone owning a pit bull.

This particular story, as sad and sickening as it is, should remind all of us dog owners (myself included) to be even more vigilant when it comes to public safety surrounding our pets! The ball is in our court when it comes to keeping our dogs, and the people around them SAFE!

I own three small, indoor Chi Hua Hua's who are basically harmless, however, what if...by some fluke somebody gets bitten? Of course they've all had their shots, but my six-year old male named 'Dexter' is sometimes a little over protective, and he growls a little when strangers are around my two young grand daughters.

It may seem like no big deal, but I'm seriously thinking of getting 'Dexter' a few dog training lessons to get rid of that occasional growl, even at the other dogs....because all dogs, big or small, pit bull or chi hua hua's must know their place in line, which is last behind humans.

When it's all said and done, ALL of us dog and pet owners should take more time and attention if needed, to guarantee the utmost safety for our pets, and those who come in contact with them--thus preventing any more tragedies like the one in Concord last Thursday!

I have been saying they need to legalize Marijuana for years. All the illegal Marijuana operations that have been raided and all that Marijuana being burned, It does not make since, that billions of dollars is going up in smoke. On July 12, 2010 police raided a Marijuana growing operation in San Francisco and Richmond California. This bust is said to have a street value of about $350,000.

This country is hurting financially I think Oakland has the right idea.
If Oakland’s council votes this through this would mean jobs, that are so badly needed. I don’t think the illegal pot growers should benefit anymore, it’s about time to legalize Marijuana just like they did alcohol 1933. I think the powers to be, the Government need to get the stick out of their A.. and legalize Marijuana.
