Projectile Bolt Size of a Baseball Kills Man while Driving Northbound on Highway 101 in Palo Alto

Driving on the highways is always an uncertain thing for drivers now days. You’re literally at the mercy of other drivers and not to mention all the debris that litter our highways. Drivers have to avoid this debris, while driving at a high rate of speed. Then there are somethings that are unavoidable.
Unfortunately on September 16th around 1 p.m. 82-year-old Louis Schaefer was a victim of a projectile bolt the size of a baseball. He was struck in the neck, when a bolt came crashing through his windshield killing him. He was driving his van on highway 101 northbound in Palo Alto, like he probably did numerous times. CHP is asking anyone that saw anything thing to please contact the CHP.
This tragic incident could have happened to anyone. I work for Streetwise Special Delivery Courier Service as a dispatcher. One of our drivers happened to see the aftermath of this accident. He said he saw a Cal-Tran water truck broke down on the highway by where the accident occurred. You never know what’s going to happen while driving on the highways or driving period. All I can say is be safe and hope for the best.

A Limo Ride Turns Tragic For Bride and her Eight Friends

This is the time of year that limousine services are busy. They are picking up teenagers for the prom and brides for bridal showers. This is supposed to be a night to remember and too look back fondly. That was not the case for Neriza Fojas' and her eight friends. On April 5, 2013 they were in a 1999 Lincoln Town stretch limousine. They were heading west bound across the San Mateo Bridge when just after 10 p.m. the back of the limousine burst into flames. The driver Orville Brown of San Jose was alerted by one of the women sitting by the partition that they smelled smoke. The driver pulled over and saw that the limousine was on fire. He helped four women up front out, but by the time they were out the back of the limousine was engulfed in flames. There was nothing he could do. Emergency workers later found Neriza Fojas and four of her friends clustered under the 3-by-1 1/2-foot window. What is so sad, every one of the passenger were in their 30s and 40s and nurses all over California. Neriza Fojas’ the bride was a registered nurse at the Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno California and from Monterey. The San Mateo County Coroner's Office identified the other four women that perished as Michelle Estrera, of Fresno, Anna Alcantara, Felomina Geronga and Jennifer Balon, of Alameda. The four women that survived this horrible ordeal are Mary Grace Guardiano of Alameda, Nelia Arrellano of Alameda, Jasmine Desguia of San Jose and Amalia Loyola of San Leandro. They are recovering at Stanford Medical Center in Palo Alto and Valley Medical Center in San Jose. The Limo Stop’s owner Kultar Singh of San Jose said, I'm very, very saddened" by the accident but did not commit further on what happened. The owner said he has owned Limo Stop for seven years and his license are up to date and valid. I want to know if Limo Stop had previous knowledge that this model and year had issues with fires. Sadly, we'll hear the facts about this tragedy in the days to come. I hope the survivors recover quickly and my prayers go out to the families who lost a love one.

On The Road Again

Looking south above :en:Interstate 80, the Eas...Image via Wikipedia

From PeteCam4 (On the road again):

How many times have you noticed someone speed past you on the freeway going 30-40 mph over the limit...often cutting-off you and other

drivers, creating a very dangerous situation? I've seen it too many times. I always wish that I was a CHP, or that I could quickly memorize

the speed demon's drivers license and call it in to the CHP!.

This past Sunday morning It happened again, and I finally acted on it! I was in light traffic heading East on Oregon Expressway in Palo Alto

in a 40mph zone. Suddenly this airport shuttle bus blew past me on the right and cut in front of me.(Long enough for me to read the bus's

company phone number.) The bus then sped off at 70-75mph...cutting-off another car or two in route to Hwy 101.

What makes this worse is that I noticed eight or more passengers in the bus, and the driver was STILL grossly wreckless and dangerous! As

a passenger, commercial or private...I'd rather miss a flight than lose life or limb. Whatever the case, this driver needs to be stopped, or at

least slowed down.

So, I called the incident in to his company manager. Now it's up to them. If you notice incredibly dangerous or obviously drunk drivers out

there...do something about it if you can. I feel a lot better now, knowing that I did.

Stay road-safe out there.

Sincerely...PeteCam4
