Karma for the Holidays

The holiday season is here, in all its commercialism, glitter, and good cheer.  But it is more than just that. It's also a time of joyous giving, reflecting and soul searching for perhaps....a better KARMA!

Just what is KARMA anyhow?  Is it luck or fortune bestowed upon our human souls.... good karma or bad karma depending on how well or ill we treat others during our lifetimes?

Perhaps KARMA, or at least the good kind....is what the Dalai Lama shared with the world a few years back--in this short, simple list of::

---INSTRUCTIONS FOR LIFE---

1-Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

2-When you lose, don't lose the lesson.

3-Follow the three R's.....RESPECT for self...RESPECT for others and RESPONSIBILITY for all your actions.

4-Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.

5-Learn the rules so you know how to break them.

6-Don't let a little dispute injure a great relationship.

7-When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

8-Spend some time alone every day.

9-Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.

10-Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

11-Live a good, honorable life.  Then when you get older and think back. you'll be able to enjoy it a second time.

12-A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.

13-In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the correct.  Don't bring up the past.

14-Share your knowledge.  It is a way to achieve immortality.

15-Be gentle with the Earth.

16-Once a year, go some place you've never been before.

17-Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other...exceeds your need for each other.

18-Judge your success by what you had to give up...to get it.

19-Approach both love and cooking with reckless abandon........

Perhaps we should all give thanks to the Dalai Lama for this special list of lessons, and while living by them....pass them along to others for a better KARMA, and for a better world.

Happy Holidays,

HEALTH CARE

HEALTH CARE

We should have a Health Care for all. There are people who work and have
been for years but their jobs don’t provide health insurance. I feel if
people could take there families to the doctor on a regular basis to be
treated preventively, then just going to emergency rooms racking up bills
this would save money. I think president Obama’s bill should pass because
it would also give people without health insurance peace of mind. I don’t
understand why the lawmaker’s are having such a hard time with this, maybe
there focusing on how much it’s going to cost instead of how much better
in the long run it would be.
