Tragic Greyhound Bus Accident On Highway 101 At Northbound Highway 85 Turnoff In San Jose

I woke up yesterday thinking this is sleeping weather. While I lay there listening to the down pour of rain not wanting it hit me. I had too because I had so many things to do. I turned on the news like I always do and heard that a Greyhound bus had crashed. Among the injured and deceased was one man seriously injured, nine others with minor injuries including the driver and two women were killed. I could only imagine how the passengers felt. To be so close to your destination after a long bus ride and not to get there because of a crash is frightening.

At 6:38 a.m. on January 19, 2016 a Greyhound bus coming from Los Angeles crashes in San Jose. The bus final destination was supposed to be Oakland. The roads were wet from the down pour of rain when the Greyhound bus approached the Highway 85 turnoff on northbound 101. A driver that was behind the bus saw the bus change lanes. Then unexpectedly the bus struck the impact barrels at the divider and landed on its side, the driver told CHP Officers. Officer Chris Miceli with the Hollister-Gilroy CHP office, said the Greyhound bus driver recalled "striking the median barrier and then the next thing he remembered was the bus at rest on its side and that's about all he could tell us." An investigation into what happened is underway. The two women who died were ejected out of the buses front window. According to CHP the bus had seat belts. I wonder why the two women were not wearing seat belts or were they and the belts failed?

What this meant for the people who commuted from Hollister, Gilroy, Morgan Hill and San Martin on highway 101 northbound? Serious delays on all the connecting highways and roadways. I work for Streetwise Special Delivery Courier Service out of Gilroy as a dispatcher and the driver that was dispatched from Gilroy was delayed 2 hours for his pickups and deliveries. All the other commuters decided to take alternate routes and alternate routes were clogged as well.

My prayers go out to the families of the two women who lost their lives and to the others who were injured.

One of the Country’s Largest Homeless Encampment “The Jungle” is shut down in San Jose

Well they finally did it! On December 4, 2014 San Jose finally shut down the largest homeless encampment in the country, known as “The Jungle”. It spans 68 acres in central San Jose along the Coyote Creek. It was home to 200 to 300 hundred people at a time. Most of these people have been living there for years. The closing of “The Jungle” is supposed to be a good, thing especially for the people who have homes near Coyote Creek. The fouls smells coming from “The Jungle” will be gone and the home owner will be glad. The bad thing about closing “The Jungle” is all the homeless people who lived there for years, where do they go? San Jose’s officials say they have spent 4 million dollars working with non-profits to find housing and temporary housing for the 200 to 300 people who were living in “The Jungle”. Ray Bramson, the city's homeless response manager said “the city is doing everything it can to ease the crisis: 144 people had been placed in housing, and another 55 have housing subsidy vouchers and are looking for homes through this pilot program. An additional 70 to 80 temporary shelter beds also had been arranged.” I don’t believe that! I just hope we don’t hear of some official stealing this money years from now. It has been known to happen. What about the ones who were living there, that did not take them up on their offer? What about the 5000 plus homeless people living on the streets in San Jose? Santa Clara County is one of the riches counties in the country but the homeless pollution is getting out of hand. There needs to be more affordable housing. All the people who left “The Jungle” where are they now? Michael Ealey of Streetwise Special Delivery Inc. Courier Service in Gilroy, California has already seen tents going up along Highway 85 and Highway 280 in San Jose on December 5, 2014. San Jose may have closed down “The Jungle” but that has not solved the problem. The homeless will always find a place to make their home. Don’t be priced if it’s next door to where you live. If it is you have the County of Santa Clara and the City of San Jose to thank for that. This is such a sad circumstances.

Is our youth becoming more violent?

On October 22, 2013 thirteen-year-old Andy Lopez was shot dead. He was reported to be carrying a rifle at the corner of Moorland and West Robles avenues, in Santa Rosa. When Santa Rosa Deputies arrive on the scene they instructed Andy to put down his weapon. When Andy did not comply, he was shot several times.  The Deputies ordered Andy to move away from the rifle. When he did not respond, the Deputies moved in and handcuffed him to find out that he was dead. The rifle Andy was carrying was fake and he also had a plastic hand gun in his waistband. Some people are saying that some cops are trigger happy. I agree some cops are trigger happy. You can’t really blame them, with the shooting in Sparks, Nevada on October 21, 2013 by a 12-year old boy. They were doing what they were trained to do. As for Andy Lopez was this suicide by cop or was Andy mentally ill? This seems to be the norm these days.  Our youth are picking up guns and killing others and then themselves because their being bullied or just because they feel like it. What does that say about our society? All I know this should not be happening. What can we be done about this? I’m confused I don’t have a clue.

American Furniture in Gilroy California Scammed Customers Out of Thousands of Dollars

Now day’s people are struggling from pay check to pay check. Every little dollar counts and I know people don’t have money to give away. There are some unscrupulous businesses out there taking peoples hard earned money and not thinking twice about it. American Furniture in Gilroy happens to be one of those businesses. The owner Peter Hung Truong of American Furniture at 8797 San Ysidro Road, next to Gold's Gym in Gilroy allegedly scammed customers out of their money. Customers would put down hundreds sometimes thousands on furniture or pay for it out right. He would promise delivery but the customers would not get their furniture. The Gilroy Police Department received three formal complaints about paying for items they never received so a fraud investigation against the owner Peter Hung Truong was opened. American Furniture had an official eviction notice was posted on the door by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's on May 23, 2013. Peter Hung Truong continued to do business despite the eviction notice. What I don’t understand if he had an eviction notice on the door didn’t the customer see it? George Zimmerman Facing Second Degree Murder Charges in the Shooting of Trayvon Martin

It is about time that the State of Florida finally arrested George Zimmerman and charged him with second degree murder for shooting Trayvon Martin on February 26, 2012. It only took the State of Florida 1 months and 16 days to charge George Zimmerman. I can’t believe that it took so long when the evidence was there from the beginning. George Zimmerman had disregarded the 911 operator instructions not to pursued Trayvon Martin that was enough for the Sanford Police department to arrest him, What’s up with that? George Zimmerman’s attorney fears that George Zimmerman won’t get a fair trial. If George Zimmerman doesn’t get a fair trial it is the fault of the Sanford police department and the State of Florida. All Trayvon Martin’s parents wanted was, George Zimmerman held accountable for killing their son. Now it is going to finally happen. What I don’t get is how Sybrina Fulton, Trayvon’s mother said that she believed that this was an accident. Wow! I can’t believe she actually said that, because it was not like George Zimmerman dropped the gun and it went off and it killed Trayvon. George Zimmerman pursued him; I think he meant to do bodily harm. Well we will all see how this nationwide trial plays out. I just hope there is justice for Trayvon Martin and his family.

11 year old girl from Gilroy killed by brother an Iraq war vet

On March 16, 2012 in Gilroy Abel Gutierrez an Iraq war vet suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, shot and killed his 11 year old sister Lucero Gutierrez and then himself and possibly his mother who is missing. This is sad and tragic for the family and friends of the Gutierrez family my prayers go out to them. The Iraq war may be over, but the after affects that are vets our experiencing is tragic. Just like the solider who is accused of killing 16 Afghanistan civilians, was suffering from severe post-traumatic stress disorder. I feel that the military played a part in both of these tragedies because they are not diagnosing war vets correctly. Diagnosing them as being fine and sending them back over to Afghanistan so they can save the military money is so wrong! Soldiers are committing suicide by the dozens and with the end of the war with thousands of troops coming home I feel this situation is only going to get worse. What are they going to do when they return home? The job situation in the states is not getting better fast enough. This will cause more stress for the war vets. The United States military better get its act together and figure out what they are going to do, to help the thousands of war vets that are coming home so tragedies like Lucero Gutierrez of Gilroy won’t keep happening.

Karma for the Holidays

The holiday season is here, in all its commercialism, glitter, and good cheer.  But it is more than just that. It's also a time of joyous giving, reflecting and soul searching for perhaps....a better KARMA!

 

Just what is KARMA anyhow?  Is it luck or fortune bestowed upon our human souls.... good karma or bad karma depending on how well or ill we treat others during our lifetimes?

 

Perhaps KARMA, or at least the good kind....is what the Dalai Lama shared with the world a few years back--in this short, simple list of::

 

    

---INSTRUCTIONS FOR LIFE---

 

 

1-Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.

 

2-When you lose, don't lose the lesson.

 

3-Follow the three R's.....RESPECT for self...RESPECT for others and RESPONSIBILITY for all your actions.

 

4-Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.

 

5-Learn the rules so you know how to break them.

 

6-Don't let a little dispute injure a great relationship.

 

7-When you realize you've made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.

 

8-Spend some time alone every day.

 

9-Open your arms to change, but don't let go of your values.

 

10-Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

 

11-Live a good, honorable life.  Then when you get older and think back. you'll be able to enjoy it a second time.

18-Judge your success by what you had to give up...to get it.

 

19-Approach both love and cooking with reckless abandon........

 

 

 

Perhaps we should all give thanks to the Dalai Lama for this special list of lessons, and while living by them....pass them along to others for a better KARMA, and for a better world.

George Carlin

Most of you probably remember George Carlin as one of the funniest, though, controversial stand-up comics of our time. He died last year one month before his 71st birthday,,.leaving behind a body of work that was unique, witty, satiric, dark, and raw-dog in style, which touched on politics, taboo subjects, and often graphic language.

His albums produced 5 grammy awards, and he enjoyed success as an actor and author as well. While frail in stature, George had lots to say...and while his unique style repelled many, it touched and enlightened millions more.

However, what I'm about to share with you is something I, (One of his biggest fans) would never have expected to come from HIM! Sometime shortly before his death, George left the world a writtin message that nearly FLOORED me! And, no, I don't mean like making me laugh so hard I was rolling on the floor. THIS message runs much deeper! Please take a moment to read, and enjoy:

The paradox of our history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, and wider freeways, but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, and we buy more, but enjoy less.

We have bigger houses, and smaller families. We have more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees, but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgement, more experts yet more problems...and more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessley, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom. We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life, but not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We've conquered outer space, but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleared up the air, but polluted our souls. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but acomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men, and small character, steep profits and shallow relatonships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses but broken homes.

These are the days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throw-away morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. These are the times when there is much in the showroom window, and nothing in the stock room.

It is a time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share its insight, or just simply...CLICK delete.

REMEMBER; to spend some time with your loved ones, because they're not going to be around forever.

Remember; to say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person will soon grow up and leave your side.

Remember; to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure that you can give with your heart...and it doesn't cost you a cent.

Remember; to say 'I Love You' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all....mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt, when it comes from deep inside of you.
