The First African-American Gold Medalist in the All-Around Gymnastics 2012 Gabby Douglas

Most people had not heard of 16 year old Gabby Douglas, like me. I first heard of her while watching the Olympic Gymnastics trials on TV. They were held in San Jose California from June 28-July 1 2012. I remember saying these girls could win when gold in London. When they picked the five girls to represent the U.S.A., Gabby Douglas was among them. The Fab 5 were on their way to the Olympics. There has never been an African-American woman to win gold medal in the all-around. Gabby Douglas made history. Just like Dominique Dawes, who was on the 1996 Olympic "Magnificent Seven" gymnastics team? She was the first African-American woman to win an individual Olympic medal in artistic gymnastics, and the first black person of any nationality or gender to win an Olympic gold medal in gymnastics. Gabby Douglas is a 4-feet-11 inch 90 pound ball of fire, with an infectious smile. 

You can’t help smile, with her. Gabby sacrificed a lot at a young age to pursue her Olympic dreams. She left her home in Virginia Beach to live with strangers in West Des Moines, Iowa, just before her 14th birthday. Gabby wanted to quit and go back home, but her mother would not let her. Her mother said, “I know she would never be able to live with herself if she was sitting home on July 26 getting ready to watch the start of the games and her name wasn’t on it,” Ms. Hawkins said. “It was your decision to come, and you’re not a quitter.” I’m so happy her mother would not let her quit. So many parents give in to their kids. Gabby has had criticism about her from the African-American community about her hair. I just want to say, all of you who have been talking about her hair shame on you. That is so negative, you should be proud! Gabby Douglas you do you. I look forward to seeing Gabby Douglas in 2016 in Rio. She is going to be more mature and stronger. Gabby Douglas just might shock the world!

Prostitution Scandal with Secret Service

Oh, Wow! 11 Secret Service Agents hooked up with prostitutes, while off duty in Columbia. Every ones acting like this has never happened before. It is no telling how long this has been going on. These 11 Secret Service agents happened to get caught. Some people are trying to blame President Obama. It is not his fault how these 11 Secret Service Agents acted. They have been having these “wheels-up” parties for years after Air Force One takes off. Congressman Darrel Issa when speaking on CBS’ “Face the Nation” program said “we’ve heard about these wheel-up parties when the president leaves.” Ok if that’s the case, why has Congress not said anything about it before now? President Obama said he is going to withhold judgment until all the facts are in and if the allegations are true he would be angry. I feel that if it is true the 11 Secret Service Agents should be fired and for Congress they should be held accountable if they knew about it.

THE IMPORTANCE OF MARTIN LUTHER KING DAY

What really gets me is how in the year 2012 a lot of people still think Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a holiday just for the black people because Martin Luther King was a black man that is not the case. Martin Luther King stood for equality for all people. Martin Luther King wanted a person to be judged by the content of their character not the color of their skin. If there were no Martin Luther King then there would not be integrated sports teams, schools, neighborhoods and work places. There would not be minority businesses, which are still surviving in this economy. Martin Luther King’s message made it where we have a minority President. I don’t understand when some people when they say enjoy your day off, it should be their day off too it is a federal holiday. Martin Luther King Day is a day of celebration a day for volunteering in your community. Here are some events that are going around the bay where you can go. Arnold Schwarzenegger Another Cheater Bites The Dust

Some Men have been cheating on women since the beginning of time. It’s in
their nature they are a visual sex.  Arnold is in the Tiger Woods, Michael
Jordan, Mel Gibson, Newt Gingrich and John Edwards cheaters club. This
list could go on for days, I don’t have days. Arnold Schwarzenegger after
years of cheating finally bites the dust, his wife finally had enough.
What I don’t get is how Maria forgave and took back this cheater. I am
sorry I could not do it; I don’t care how much in love or lifestyle I
have. The cheater would be kicked to the curve and I would get paid. I say
once a cheater always a cheater. For all you ladies who have the affairs
with married men, you can best believe that what goes around comes around.

TSUNAMI IN JAPAN KILLS THOUSANDS

An 8.9 earthquake off the shore of Japan triggered a 23-foot tsunami killing thousands. People were running for their lives, but they could not escape the massive wave of water and debris. The Tsunami carried away
homes, ships, cars and people. The people living in Onahama Japan where the nuclear power plant is were told to move back two miles from the nuclear power plant in case of leakage. Now the people are evacuating because the unclear power plant is leaking. The Tsunami that hit Japan was horrific, it could have been devastating if would have happened at night. Not only did it affect Japan it also affected the Hawaiian Islands and the Western Coastal States. Hawaii and the West Coast had a warning unlike
Japan. Crescent City California harbor and docks were destroyed and damage is in the multi millions. Santa Cruz California was hit hard by this tsunami, there docks and harbor were damaged as well. Boats were swept out
to sea, but some people did not heed the warning to stay away from the beach. People were walking their dogs and had their children on the beach. These people have to be some of the stupidest idiots I have ever seen.Three men  decided to take their cameras to the Klamath River in Del Norte County to get pictures. All three were swept away by a surge two made it back to shore, but the other one is still missing. The traffic was a nightmare on highways 17 and 152. Streetwise Special Delivery Courier driver was caught in the traffic this morning it took him two and a half
hour to get back to San Jose. He saw people camped out on the side of the roads with their families they were still in their pajamas under blankets. People of California are you ready for a tsunami as big as the one that hit Japan; it is going to happen one day.

FRAUDULENT CHECK SCAM

Taking  peoples life savings, ruining their credit and possibly getting them charged with fraud just because they were sent a check for thousands of dollars. The check looks real it's from a well known bank. With economic times being so hard, the average person would deposit it in their checking account. The bank more than likely would accept it not thinking twice about it. Then a week or two goes by, the check does not clear. The banks calling  and asking you when, how, where did you get the check and threatening to charge you with fraud.


 I live in San Jose California,  I received a check while I was on vacation,  when I got back I was going through my mail, I open up this FedEx envelope there was this white envelope inside and nothing else. So I open it up and it is a check for $2,150, automatically I said who would send me a check out of the blue I could not think of anyone. I called the phone number on the FedEx package and left a message for the sender to call me back and let me know why they sent me this check. After a couple of days not hearing from the sender,  I got on the Internet and found the number of the company who supposed to have sent the check The Methodist Hospital Harvey Smith 6565 Fannin St. Houstin TX 77030 called them and they said they don't send checks by FedEx it's fake. I knew that this check was to good to be true. The check was draw on JP Morgan Chase Bank 10430 Highland Manor Dr. 3rd Floor Tampa FL. 336610-0000.


People I know times are hard and money is tight, so if you get receive a check by FedEx, UPS or by regular mail. Do your homework don't take it as a gift from God or who ever. Check it out throughly it could save you a lot of aggravation. Like my mother used to say "all money is not good money".Word to the wise don't be a victim.

RECALL ON FOOD TAINTED WITH E COLI AND SALMONELLA

It has been one recall after another. In October 2006 it was Green Leaf Lettuce, E coli was found in the irrigation water. In July 2009 there was a recall on Romaine  Lettuce which was tainted with E coli. Now there is a recall on hydrolyzed vegetable protein it is tainted with Salmonella. This hydrolyzed vegetable protein  is a flavoring used in every type of processed food.

  How are consumers supposed to know if lettuce has E coli, you can’t!

With beef and chicken  we are told to cook it to temperature of 155 degrees Fahrenheit, but we can’t do that with lettuce. we can wash lettuce under running water and hope that is enough.

  Consumers are at the mercy of these companies that produce processed foods.  Dr. Margaret Hamburg told reporters that the risk of illness was very low and so far, no consumers have reported getting sick from products containing the flavoring. I think someone got sick after eating one of  the recalled items, but  just dismissed it as stomach flu. Dr.

Jeff Farrar associate commissioner for the food safety said “We expect this to get larger over the next several days, actually several weeks.”

   We can all prevent the spread of E coli and Salmonella by washing our hands and utensils  with hot soapy water before and after handling meat and washing all surfaces that the meat touched. Do not thaw meat on the counter, put cooked food in the refrigerator promptly after its cooked Salmonella can cause sever illness in the very young, very old and frail. To all you consumers please read all  processed food ingredients labels, avoid processed foods containing hydrolyzed vegetable protein.
